Re: DELL 2405fpw
I can't even remember what I had for lunch today. If I didn't document the almost burnt bacon and eggs, I would have forgotten.
Now is Mirage00 willing to take apart a good working monitor to save the other one?
@budm, any chance the USB board is generating any voltages that are needed by the main board like the Dell 2007fpw that you did an analysis on? The two good voltage regulators have to be getting their 3.3V from somewhere?--- begin sig file ---

Re: DELL 2405fpw
I am not sure (you mean the 2407), I really expect to see a transistor close by the power pin of the T-CON connector. See example of the Dell 2007. The 5V for the T-CON must be coming from 5V buck regulator some where since this monitor has only 19V power supply (I believe).Attached FilesLast edited by budm; 06-28-2012, 11:08 PM.Never stop learning

Re: DELL 2405fpw
Hi Please can you test that orange pico fuse.
Also can you mark on the picture with the red squares ,the part nos so we know which is which.
Perhaps a close up well lit picture of the top corner marked out by budm and the back of that area would help.
Unless I have missed it there has been no comment on the result of your tests on the mosfets.
In the eservice post you mention it does say
"The IFR5305S drain should be at 5VDC. I measured this from a properly working monitor. This means a 3V Zener is incorrect. Use at least a 6.8V Zener which should be quite safe for downstream parts. I managed to supply 5V to the drain (after removing the burnt FET) from an external 5V SMPS and all works well."
Whereas I think you are saying you have 0.00 on the drain?
If the 5305S is not in the area for which the close up was requested can you do it as well. Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Re: DELL 2405fpw
I will get the info later today! I'm glad this thread is still alive, I was getting nervous.
Once again, I must thank everyone for their time and contributions. It still amazes me that I have people who are willing to take time and help me out for no other reason than they want to.

Re: DELL 2405fpw
That PICO is the fuse after the DC output of the main 19V power supply that supply the power to all the boards, the voltage get stepped down to lower voltage by a bunch of regulators. If that fus eis blown, the whole unit will be dead, it uses about the same aset up as the 24xx sereis monitor, single output main power supply.Never stop learning

I know if I had 2 identical monitors, I would have already done the voltage comparisons between the good and bad to know if the drain pin should be 0.00 or 5V.--- begin sig file ---

Re: DELL 2405fpw
In the other URL, it mentions D19 as being the diode that is shorted out.
Power off, unplug the lcd and test your D19 with the diode test function on your multimeter. You should have 2 readings. Report both.--- begin sig file ---

by BowlineMy question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?
Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?
My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell... -
by AezakmiHello,
A few days ago my Dell 2408 has stopped to working without any noticeable sign.
It can be power on, power light stays green, backlight works but there is no OSD, menu input, Dell logo etc. It happens if there is some input source connected or not.
I disassembled the case but I didn't see any failures on the board. The only element that looked suspicious was L6561 - there was some brown dirt under it. So I replaced this IC but it changed nothing.
What else should I checked or is this repair even possible/worthwhile?
Thank you for your c...9 Photos-

by F R 2568Hello all,
this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.
I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:
If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):
When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.

by diamonI have a Dell Latitude 5530 with a damaged RJ45 network connector. See the attached pictures.
Have already searched on Farnell / Aliexpress / Ebay and had contact with several suppliers on Aliexpress and Ebay, but they cannot deliver this connector.
Is there someone inside the EU, who has these connector(s) or perhaps defective motherboard(s) for these laptop models I have mentioned in the topic title.
