if anybody makes more, use a 44pin mcu - then you can have 128k flash and not be restricted to 32k.

Maybe you can try this firmware, it might work with your unit:
      https://yadi.sk/d/yW8xa5NJgUo5z/M328Kit%2BTFT

There are allot of other pre-compiled firmware for other models there as well...

yes. it really works, but I liked the STJ software. Thanks. I will do it with the software you recommended!

          Re: ESR meter upgrades

The software is not written by STJ, there are basically nowdays two open source versions:
M-firmware by Markus (username Madires on the eevblog forum)
K-firmware by Karl-Heinz Kübbeler (username kubi48 on the Mikrocontroller forum)

Both I and STJ seem to prefer the K-firmware but it is all down to preference.
You can try both now that you have a place with precompiled firmware that works for your unit.
Or you can get your hands dirty and compile yourself if you like, there are allot of options to customize

what makes mine good is i took the time to get all the settings right.
stuff like display centering, battery level etc is very poor on the default settings from the author.

STJ, does this unit look like it would work with your firmware?

They don't show the bottom of the board but I'm assuming it's an 8MHz setup.

i have no idea - first time i'v seen that.
it looks similar to the one we call "AY-AT"

if your thinking of buying it - dont.
it has a 32pin cpu - so limited to 32k flash.
you want one with a 44pin cpu so you can use upto 128k for maximum features.

Thanks for the tip! I will hunt for 44pin units.

Wait, so what processor is it? Model #?

                    Re: ESR meter upgrades

How widespread are the "44 pin" units? Which specific microcontrollers qualify for these? Seen any specific models with them?

Since it seems that there are so many mega328 units out there, wouldn't it make sense to keep trying to use these?

Dang. I would rip out the PWM generator code, rather have a dedicated device to generate PWM and not sacrifice this unit to control something. Frequency counter... maybe keep. Signal generator... rip out, same issue/opinion as PWM code. *shrug* again just IMHO...

oh well pulled trigger on one, unfortunately it's a 32K flash limit, but nevertheless it still should work to test parts even if it cant take latest flash...

just hope it knows how to detect germanium transistors/diodes and I couldn't care less if it could PWM or be a frequency generator, I have other tools for those functionalities...

                          well the tc-1 uses a 44pin atmega324,
and there is a highland one with an atmega644

                          probably others too

If you're curious now, do you have any germanium transistors and just stick in two terminals?

I have a bunch of germanium diodes tried out, and not so impressed. Readings seem to be different every run. AY-AT and stj's F/W I think 20MHz:

Hmm so it looks like it might sort of distinguish a germanium compared to a schottky actually... but it can't do it directly at least as of yet...

I think Schottky leakage current is much higher.
I tried a 1N459A silicon low leakage diode and Vf=761mV but no Ir measurement shows up on the display.

This is the last stage of verification.I have already stitched 30 different firmwares with many firmwares. But alas, I can not pass the test. At the last stage, I did not save my own. It's a pity.

I read EBOOK of Testing Electronic Component and found that

"In order to test the small blue resin coated ceramic disk capacitor which has 104 50v specification,it is possible to test this small ceramic capacitor by making use of analogue meter.
Set to times 10Kohm that has 12v output from the probe to check disorder of ceramic capacitor.
It is not uncommon that testing result of digital capacitance meter is okay,But It show shorted reading when you check it with analogue meter."

Is it really possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue...

Modification of a Fluke multi meter that uses three AA batteries to use a 14500 lithium ion battery

I have had with regular AA batteries that leak this meter is expensive new I already replaced the battery battery clips once and the same thing happened again and I am tried of so it is getting modified to accommodate lithium ion batteries that are the same size excluding the positive terminal and removing the battery clips I will have enough room for the BMS protection board

I going to put 3 lithium ion battery in parallel with the BMS protection board and a way to charge the battery externally and heat shrink the battery pack and use a JST connector so I easily remove the battery...

Changing the scale of an analog meter
                                            by jorpec
                                            Hi

I want to change the scale of an analog meter, to monitor the charge of an li-ion single cell, so the needle at the end would point 4.2 volts and the 0 on the meter would point 2.5 volts or so, i tried to add diodes or a zener in series with the meter but the changes of the ambient temperature also changes the voltage value on the meter
I wonder how i can accomplish this so the meter would be precise at any temperature ?

                                            Thnaks

How an incandescent light and a ESR meter ** friend**have a machine blowing fuses

About a month ago we had a transformer jumper wire that burned in two different places between two transformers caused over $200 thousand dollars worth of damage to VFD drives at least 10 of them and a memory card and quite a few power supply as well

Now we have most of the equipment that got damaged back up and running except a feeder that has issues and we are waiting for some parts for

Now we also have another piece of equipment that was blowing fuses on the 110 volt controller switch circuit with the “E” stops and one switching power (24 volt) supply and a transformer...

ps4 1215 model Changed port and encoder still no video?
                                            by irepair559
hi guys so i have this ps4 fat 1215 i believe ( the one with the ps4 pro/slim newer encoder ic ) so i replaced hdmi and 2 blown filters and still no pic so i replaced encoder and still no pic. i made sure port is solid even checked with a breakout hdmi and tested ground and data lines.. Filters are all good , though 2 of the newer ones are larger then the original ones i dont know if that matters ?
Made sure under the scope encoder pins all look solid went over with fine tip and solder again. Idk but this thing is stressing me out..
ps4 seems to boot fine blue light then solid...
