      Don't get someone started ...

      [OT]@ PCBONEZ: Nice explanation, thanks[/OT]

@ Willa: did the new firmware solve your performance issues? Maybe you already wrote it, but I got lost following the thread

It appears that 7200.10s are often made in Thailand
while the 7200.7s were often made in China.

While 2003 and 2004 Barracudas were commonly made in Singapore.

Oh, and the bad Seagate Barracuda ST380013A 80 GB I gotten back in 2005 was made in China, IIRC.

Actually, not, unless they are turbocharged or supercharged.

Also engines rarely had a turbocharger or supercharger back in the 1960s and 1970s.

And high compression cylinders were rare back then.

I'm more concerned about now, because turbochargers are more common now.

                      The 2000s trend:

                      Smaller displacement engines with turbochargers.

                      Then likely means 93+ octane.

Do you forget the Chevron 101 White Pump gas?
Perhaps you forgot 10:1 and higher pistons in the muscle cars?
My Harley had 10:1 pistons. Bump starting this required a tow vehicle.
My friend Ralph had 11:1 in his Mustang 289.
A late '60s Buick put out just about 500 foot pounds of torque on high compression engines.

My Mopar 440 Interceptor was good for about 6 mpg.

Maybe they did, but seems to be not many of them.

Like 99 percent of them were like 9:1 or something like that, likely because of detonation concerns. Probably so 87 and lower octane won't damage the engine.

And Audi has 13:1 or something like that with the RS4 and R8 and rev like a Civic Si and type R.

Also, in the 1960s, 400+ Ci was common.

While engines of the 2000s are rarely more than like 305 Ci.

                            Re: Seagate 7200.11 turds

I'm resurrecting this old thread and bringing it back on track by saying I just fixed a Seagate 7200.11 ST3500820AS drive with firmware SD15
It had the "BSY" error (not even recongized by systems BIOS and computer hanged when the drive was attached to the system)

I bought a new nice TTL interface because my old one was, well, not the prettiest thing in the world

Following this guide everything went great except for the instruction to reverse the TX/RX pins on the TTL interface > drive, I had to have them TX>TX and RX>RX so I guess my TTL interface is labeled "incorrectly" (or just more logically if you will )

I soldered my wires directly to the drives PCB because I could not find a suitable header for the drives jumper block, and I used cardboard from a milk box to insulate the drive connectors per the guide

After the process was done all of the users data was readable, now that I have recovered the data I will try to flash it with the latest firmware SD4A-2D tomorrow and then run Seagates test program on it to see if it works well, then I might put it to use somewhere

                            These where the commands I gave the drive and it's response;
                            Code:
                            F3 T>/2

                            F3 2>Z

                            Spin Down Complete
                            Elapsed Time 0.140 msecs

(Comment; now remove milkbox cardboard and secure torx screws)

                            F3 2>U

Interesting. I dont remember if any of my .11s failed in this manner. The last one had several thousand pending sectors.

i'v used that debug port to clear the password & lock bits on xbox harddrives.

i still wouldnt trust a maxgate.

I have a 7200.12 and a WD drive and they both work decently. Hopefully SSDs will become affordable in the next few years.

                                    I fixed another one
Same enduser, when the first one failed (the one that I repaired in the post above) he got it replaced under warranty...

Know what the suckers at Packard Bell did?
They put in a 7200.11 with the exact same firmware and also manufacture date!
                                    09013

                                    Just amazing work of them!
This one also works fine now that I did the recovery procedure, I have already flashed the first one with firmware SD4A-2D, it works great...
Will flash this one too but it was a pita because only 1 of 5 computers I had would let the firmware update thing run properly! (And of course this one had only SATA ports so I had to borrow a SATA CD-ROM from one of the others!)

                                        Hello to everyone ,

This is my first post here, and i would like to share with you a small story in case you can help me.

Docker Type-C Gen 2 - Model 40AS. Was given to me by a friend for free ,but with the problem that you cannot use the video output ports.

All ports work , USB , Ethernet, Type C ... but HDMI + Display Port don't work

I searched on reddit and google for problem similar to that, and a LOT of people had fixed this problem by updating the firmware. So i tried , i searched and found 1.1.13 utility and 1.1.20 utility that can help...

                                        by rumpumpel1
Lenovo System Update offered me an update for the firmware of the Folio keyboard for my X12 Detachable Gen 1. The update got stuck and after 20 minutes I switched off the laptop. Since then, the keyboard and touchpad have been without function. Does anyone know how I can revive it?

                                        by dkneyle
Diagnosed this TV as having a failed main board which I've replaced with one from a KDL 55HX850. They are (supposedly) the same board.

Being 'Smart TV' it requires a firmware reboot when you swap out boards such as T-Con or main board. It starts with a black screen and flashing yellow and green LEDS, indicating it needs that firmware boot. The procedure described all over the web is to put the software into the root directory of a FAT32 formatted USB drive and it should load that up once plugged into USB1 port. But not for me. I can see the LED on the USB chip flash for about...

Marantz NR1508 USB firmware update image
                                        by pp74
Does anyone happen to have the latest firmware for the NR1508? Marantz took their update server down and customer support refuses to provide the image to flash over USB.

After an update it stopped playing audio and video, I have reset it as it says in the manual and tried to reinstall the firmware over the internet but logging failed each time and I tried to download the firmware to install it by usb but it does not appear on the official page, could you help me? Since it would be a shame to have to get rid of him, European version Thank you very much
                                        Best regards.
