My uncle has an ABS computer, it has been turning itself off after about an hour of use since he had it. He brought it to me this weekend, after checking power supply I noticed it had high cpu temp in the bios. I removed the heatsink and found it had the cheap foil pad on the heatsink, the plastic remove me before use cover over the pad, and a silvery paste on the plastic pad. Someone must of had a few to many the night before :P

Re: I'm laughing at ABS Computer
had one a few days ago that would post and die.
kid who owned it said it started when mom dropped it from the van.
found the hsf laying in the case.the socket lugs had broken off.
found a fancy amd hsf that used the other wide lugs on this socket 370.
told the kid that he was lucky since it was an intel.an amd would have went up in smoke! -
Re: I'm laughing at ABS Computer
a bit of advice. dont leave the side panel open. got home one day and found an open baby bottle leaking and the power supply shorted, the mobo blew, the GFX blew, the NIC isnt the same(only got 2.1mbps transfer rate instead of 100.0mbps)and i still am using that busted NIC(now 612 KBPS) and i plan to use the other one that is sitting and collecting dust on top of the rig some day. The HDD FDD and CDD are gone.
Well anyway nice to see another person with that responsibility dont let that crying make you insane. babys cry ALOTComment

by VenHello everyone,
I'm looking to upgrade the heatsink on the main processor of my TV's motherboard for better cooling performance.
The current heatsink is a square-shaped one (2.8cm x 2.8cn) with a basic design, and I believe a more efficient heatsink could help with thermal management and potentially extend the life of the TV.
I'd appreciate any advice on the best type of heatsink to use, specific product recommendations, and tips for installation.
If you've done a similar upgrade, I'd love to hear about your experience and any challenges you...1 Photo -

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

by corrizeHello, I need your advise please ? I need to remove and replace the BGA black chip with fpc connectors around. The PCB is small, from camera.
There is no plastic component directly under, on the other face, (only fuse and oscillator I can remove if they are sensitives to heat), but there is a lot of very small smd components I don't want to desolder by mistake.
I have :
- hot air, and a ll stuff around
- true kapton tape
- 140 and 180 degree soldering paste
- bismuth
- little hot plate 250 degree max
- the new BGA chip with probably... -
by cookThe Dell laptop pictured in this post has an area of the board covered with a dull silver material. It is the large 'square' area on the lower right that sits right next to the two card slots. When I removed it from my board, it felt like it was thick paper that has glue on one side, and the other side has a silvery material on it that crumbles off very easily. As it crumbles off it leaves a silvery color on your skin. Underneath of this cover, there are many chips, and there are two big chips from SMSC, which I assume are for the card slots. Other parts of the board are covered with a sheet...
