I have at least a couple of these.

Very sturdy but ugly beige. Maybe a little yellowing on some of the plastic.Re: ATX Desktop Cases

Re: Asus
Ooops! Clicked the wrong button. Should have been "Like". I have 20+ Asus boards right now, from S7 to 775. Most are even the less desirable SiS chip set. I've only had 1 (A7V333) that had a sudden and unexplained death. At work we've had around 100 Asus boards in operation over the last few years in hot and dirty manufacturing. Other than the occasional bad cap, no issues.

Re: Oscope options
If you were driving up through Ohio and had some cool stuff to trade, I might be tempted to get rid of mine. It's a Tektronix 2465. 4 channel 300mhz. I only have 1 150mhz probe and it is missing the alligator clip off the end of the ground wire. I haven't gotten rid of it because I'm sure I can't afford to replace it right now, but it just sits here collecting dust.

Re: My new tower fleet
It's a 1.05. I never updated the bios. I ran it with a 1 ghz. Sorry about the fan. It was spinning when I tested it before I packed it up. But then again, it is old.

Re: Identifying badcaps in a Xbox360
I know in some 360's, if not all, the 6.3v 2700uf caps are Rubycon MFZ, which are suppose to be polymer. If they are bulging, I'd say the oven just cooked them all.

I had some old NCR Microchannel 486 machines that had Teapo made power supplies also. Guess what brand of caps they used?

I have an AD70 SR (PATA raid) that had blown Teapos.

Re: pop-up issue
I second the malwarebytes. I've used is on 3 PCs in the last 2 weeks to remove Antivirus 2009. Works fast and completely removes it.

VeiwSonic VA912b
Flashing green light. No picture. All the caps were CapXon.
The three bulging caps were 470uf 25v reading between 3 and 7 ohms esr. The big 100uf 400v cap had a slight bulge but was open.
Cap list
KF series: mfr spec qty
470uf 25v 10mm x 16mm ripple=1200 imp= .076 5
470uf 10v 8mm x 12mm ripple=580 imp= .25 1
KM series:
100uf 400v 18mm x 35.5mm ripple=550
I replaced the KF series with Nichicon PW, same sizes and spec.
The KM series I used a Nichicon PB that was 18mm...

Re: Post your old computers here!
Thats much cooler than the old Commodore PET I use to use in the late 70's. I think I'm out of 8088's, but I still have a 286 and a TI994A in the garage....

Re: Dell E172fpb
Might be bad solder joints. Did you re solder all the transformer connections? Just to be safe, you should re solder all the connections on that half of the board.

Re: benq fp731 backlight problem
I just bought some 2sc5707 from this guy. On the transistors, your more than likely looking for a short between 2 of the legs. The legs are labeled E C B on the board. The fuse just check for continuity.
I cant see any red circle.Re: benq fp731 backlight problem

Re: Serial networking.
The adapter just converts 9 pin to an RJ45 connector because it is easier to run Cat3/5 cable than big ass molded serial cable. You are still looking at some type of peer to peer, like Lap Link, style networking networking. Most of those adapters are used to hook up serial terminal connections. With the adapter, you are still looking at a null modem cable, just with ethernet cable in between.
NT has a lap link type file sharing, but I believe it is only for paralell port.
Google SLIP(Serial Line Interface Protocol).

Re: Serial networking.
I have quite a few 9 pin to RJ45 adapters. If it is one of these Stevo, you still can't just connect to your network like with ethernet, but there are options. Are you running all Windows in your house?
