    Has anyone heard of fake fans?

    We all know about fake caps, but has anyone here heard of a fake fan (a fan made by HongKongFlyApart Company (R) but with a Delta or Nidec sticker).

    PS. Toasty, I added the (R) after HongKongFlyApart Company for you
    I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

      I have a fake Foxconn fan that was seized up, the label is obviously fake judging by the clumsy font. A little bit of oil in its bearings and it kicked back in.

          i've never seen fake fans myself, but if there are fake caps, then there has to be fake fans out there!

              I've seen real Foxconn fans seize up. I don't hold them in very high regard. Unfortunately, they seem to be AMD's fan of choice lately.

                          the foxcon problem is caused by the use of a ceramic sleeve instead of a bronze sleeve or a bearing-race.

                          i'v ripped a few of those shit fans apart to see why they seized.

                                  I had a thermaltake 120mm fan that on the fan hub said "made in taiwan". The taiwan part could be peeled off to reveal "china".

                                                  i have a foxconn fan. a bit on the noisy side but it movers a lot of air for 80mm. definitely not seized.

                                                      I think that last poat of mine wins the most garbled award. What i meant ro say was that even though it may have cheap caps it gets the job done except it still smells bad even though its 4months old

                                                          and i wouldnt argue with a country that has a million-man army and a nuclear-armed submarine fleet over something trivial like country of origin stickers!

                                                                                  Hello guys. I have a problem with a PNY XLR8 GAMING RTX3090 graphics card. The problem is that it displays and works fine, but the fans don't spin at all. The problem occurred when someone else removed the fans in order to clean it and broke one of the fan connectors. He replaced it himself and after that, it wasn't working anymore. I guess he damaged something else in the process. What i have done so far: I found 2 capacitors next to the connector that were in a bad shape, he must have touched them with his tools - they weren't shorted, but i replaced them with similar ones from a similar card....

                                                                                  I have an Asus Strix-G15-G513RM, who starts normally, but as the fans don't work, it stops and is really really hot,
                                                                                  The Bios was the latest one, (327), but I managed to downgrade it to version 325 to see if it changed something,
                                                                                  (as I read somewhere that a corrupted bios can explane my problem), but nothing, it just went full blow during the downgrade,
                                                                                  (so now, i can say that the fans are fonctionnal), but as it restarted, the fans won't turn at all again.

                                                                                  ah, and in the Bios, even when the temperature is really hot, the fan are a 0 rpm,...

                                                                                  I decided to take one of the Rubycon capacitors out of a phat Xbox 360 with a Zephyr motherboard and noticed that all the Rubycon capacitors near the CPU were fake. The capacitors in question are Rubycon MFZ 680uf 6.3V and they all have a bullseye bottom, something not found in genuine Rubycon capacitors. None of them were leaking, they all have the K top, and the system has never been opened before. It appears Microsoft was using fake capacitors in the Xbox 360, or the Chinese facility where the console was manufactured in was using them and passing them off a genuine. Just thought I'd share...
