Good morning Red.
You are right... ITs a TERRIBLE schematic. In excusably bad. Thermosol is a major brand and the idea that they provided this to the public as the wiring diagram is inexcusable in my IMHO. Politely, I HASD to let them know when speaking with them. There must be a reason they did this...?
Believe it or not I got it wired up and got it turned ON... Thing is (and there is always a thing) the element is toast. New one is 180$ if I can get my hands on one. Good thing is (as you sad) removing the coil allowed me to get my eyes on the "LEVEL" switch...

Good Morning All...
Just to say, I got this thing working and working well. I built the fire brick chimney, got a nice fab'd shroud to direct air flow, a nice 36 inch grill/grate for inside the sauna and a surprisingly nice vevor fan to push air thru... And it works. Max temps I see coming out of the vent (without ceramic insulation on the ducting) is about 250F with fan running in medium... I'll be come forward with some pictures shortly.
Q: I want/need the fan to run WHENEVER the system is on. I have the relay you see and the wiring diagram (I'll attach a picture) and...

Good Morning.
Yesterday I was feeling pretty good, progress, but as you pointed out A1 still leaves a question.
I'm confused as to why the drawing seems to show the "J1/A1" connection coming off of the board - and not from somewhere else. There is NO spade for this on the board.
Because it is labeled as "J1" I was confident with the idea that I could run a wire from one of the 120v spades under J1 into the contactor powering "A1" with that - then "J3"/"A2" to the board for the control of the contactor, as in your drawing....

Red! That is perfect....
I was just speaking with the 3rd person at thermosol. The first two had zero info, the third, did good. She sent the 2nd attached picture.
In speaking with her and now THIS, I think I have everything I need to feel fairly confident in wiring the thing up.
Friday, probably Saturday morning, I will give it a shot and SEE if there will be steam...
Thank you for this. Its exactly right.
The A1 lead comes directly off of the J1 120 volt connection. One of the spare spade below the main lugs.
The contactor says...Last edited by JayPoorJay; 12-19-2024, 01:44 PM.

Ok... Call me craZy and point me out as wrong, BUT I think I may have it...
Here's the thing. I think that this wiring diagram ISNT so much about following it to wire it up, but its just saying a little something about what is connected to or is getting power from what. THIS is directly from the the instruction manual --- "Connect 240-volt SINGLE PHASE AC electrical lines to wires labeled 1 & 2 in junction box on the generator and an approved ground to the green safety grounding wire". IN THIS, can we call "wires labeled 1&2" J1 and...Last edited by JayPoorJay; 12-19-2024, 10:51 AM.

Red, I super appreciate your input here. Careful steps and acknowledging how unclear things are.
Hornets nest and ALL that. Yes, thats how this feels.
Believe it or not I've poked my way through schematics for jaguars old and new,,, one car had been underwater (literally) and I'm driving it today. What is and ISN'T in this schematic has to be intentional...
I'm going to call Thermosol technical support today (I called them once and they were NOT helpful) to see if there is anything they can add. There has to be.
Honestly, unless someone can give...

Ok and understood... Actually, the only thing that I'm not nervous about it running my two 120v wires and a ground from my breaker panel.
I am nervous about connecting to the Circuit Board. I dont want to destroy or burn the thing.
For the circuit board connections ---- for J1, 2 and 3 on the board,,, where do I connect those?
Are you willing to use one of my photos and literally paint me a picture, lol. No kidding,,, I have NO faith in myself to get it right OR hoping that I do.
Do J 1, 2, 3 on the board get wired to the the RED or BLUE spades?...

Hi STJ,,, Thank you.
I will definitely be replacing wires and cleaning the connections...
Oh and,,, where did you see 63 amps? I've been getting ready for 46 amps tops. I have a 50 amp breaker like Thermosol suggested.
Yes, I believe J6 pins are all dedicated to the controller and that's where 12v goes. It has some lights and I believe a thermometer/thermostat built in? Not sure yet. Should be delivered today.
Any ideas for some of my other questions?
Like - for all of the connections that call for a connection to "J1"......

Thank you for staying with me STJ (all of y'all)... I need(ed) to take a step back, or something.
I hate to say this but even though you are giving me basic info and asking me basic questions you are kinda talking over my head.
I do have a 240v source and can be ready with that over the weekend. BUT, I don't feel like I know how to get the power to the board safely.
AMPS - I believe (the whole machine) is rated @ 40-46 amps. Ill include a photo of the top of the unit and link the manual.
I have a multi meter and as Lotas suggested (TY) the 5 volts I am looking for...

Photos...
I have what I believe is T1 the transformer and the circuit board. Nothing else in the box. The guy from thermosol says the level switch are the two reds and the two whites are the thermostat and the fast start?
Yeah, I don't know what I am looking at....Last edited by JayPoorJay; 12-17-2024, 07:50 PM.

Hey, Thanks Lotas...
Yes, I'm kinda dumb with this stuff so please be patient with me. Lol, not overly, just a bit...
So, I have a green earth I'm guessing that will go to earth (ground) when I get the 240 wiring to the unit. I have what we call here 8/3 which holds a neutral, and two hots and a earth (ground).... so from what I'm seeing here,,, basically I don't know where the red, black and white wires would go. J1, 2 and 3...on the board...
Am I missing an entire component?
Yeah. I need all kinds of help.

Man you are fast!
So, even without the controller I can do that test?
Which and where is VR1? Is it in one of the photos? Is it the large coil on the board?
I'm nervous. Pls be patient with a guy.
There are loose wires floating around.
I can and will provide better pictures BUT the main red, black and white wires that WERE and STILL ARE attached on the circuit board side, are not attached on the other end - where do they go?
I also spoke a bit with thermosol and he suggested those two skinny white wires would be for the "fast...

Hey Good Day Folks
So, my 29$ 1600$ steam generator showed up and I took a look (to the best of my ability - untrained eye) at some of the components and what here...
I'll attach some pictures but for the most part it looks "clean"... No evidence of heat, burning or fire. I think it was just something that was getting discarded during an estate sale or something from an estate clearing situation. Fingers crossed.
Also, like a nut, I went and order a 400$$$ controller. I didn't see any choice. Can't test it exactly without the controller - as far...

Hey Man. I would love to hear about one being "made". The replacement is almost 400 dollars unless one comes up on eBay soon...
Then, there is a guy selling a controller for a much newer thermosol steam generator for less than even the older one designed for this unit... Could it be "modified"?
I've been chatting with the guy and he tells me he bought it with a "LOT" of items at an estate sale and it looked as thought they had just removed it from the space it had been living/working in. I really have my fingers crossed on this one...!...

I did see that. This is an "AS IS" situation. What we are seeing is what I'll be getting - little scary, lol... but not?
The thing that I really need (and it doesn't seem like its included in the schematic) is the input from the controller and its connections OR,,, are those connections the little arrows with J6.x numbers/letters on the left?
I've spoken to the manufacturer and they say it is a "six prong" plug connector and those are basically numbered 1-6 (not including the AC input wiring). Could those be them?...

Steam Generator - To Be or Not To Be - And 1000 Other Questions
Good Morning All.
Now I've gone and done it! Wife and I bought a big old "new" 100yo colonial house and a guy can dream, right??? I'm building a sauna and a steam shower in the basement.
At this point, because of y'all, I've fixed a couple TVs, replaced a few capacitors and resistors, repaired some E ribbons, ALL with y'all's help and reading here. Next challenge,,,, I am still and perhaps will ALWAYS be at bottom of a steep learning curve with electronics... Anywho,,,
These things (Thermosol Steam Suite ASD450) NEW are in the thousands. That plus...

Sam. It's a radiator. They stay hot for 10, 20, 30 min or longer (considerably longer) when the boiler/pumps shut down. What I would like to do is have 2 small computer type cooling fans run for 15 or 20 minutes AFTER the boiler has run a cycle. The on off of the boiler is responding to temps FAR away (and warmer) from this cold room (the kitchen) in the house.
Am I posting to the wrong sub-forum?
Also, the boiler/furnace AND the pump would not change the way they function in anyway what so ever. The only thing that would be happening is that during a ON/RUN cycle, as...

LOVE this idea and thank you for the detailed explanation...
I do have a quick question though. This item (and I could just use it as a launch point for my search) seems to feed a lot of power to heaters for a water tank/aquarium...? The fans I am thinking to use are less than 1 amp. I would be willing to go as high as say,,, 2 amps, but 10 amps? Seems like a lot for my application. No?
Honestly, I would prefer to just have a timer switch that turns on (is switchd) when the hot water pump turns on,,, and then remains on for a set time once the pump turns off. Is there...Last edited by JayPoorJay; 11-08-2024, 09:21 AM.
