I currently have 5 Samsung TVs all different sizes that I have either repaired the boards or purchased complete new sets of boards for that will not turn on. I am frustrated beyond frustration and I am ready to chuck them and forget my losses. It makes absolutely no sense as I check pins and have correct voltage readings. I just finished replacing 5 caps on a power board where the screen went from normal to white out in 15 to 20 seconds. Now it refuses to turn on. I do not have factory remotes for any of these sets so I just use universal ones. Does anyone have any idea what is happening? Is there a special sequence of buttons to hold down while pressing the power button to reset these units? All help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Re: Crazy Question needing answers please
You should start 5 threads or look up your model numbers on this site to find out some answers. We dont know if some are plasmas and some are LED tvs. Do a little homework and then post with clear pictures and a very detailed description of one set per thread. -

"as I check pins and have correct voltage readings" Are you saying that all the Voltages and the Control Voltages are all correct?
Also define as to what 'will not turn on' means. No pictures, no backlights, no sound. no power indicator, no starting chime?Never stop learning

Pick up a different hobby... :-)
As suggested, start slowly, pick what you think is the best set and post some details / new thread as suggested / requested and the forum will likely get your hobby a "rebirth".Comment

Re: Crazy Question needing answers please
make a new thread, pick ONE of those 5 TV's and describe exactly what the tv is or isn't doing. Attach clear, straight shot pictures and I am sure the boys and gals around here will troubleshoot this properly and find out what is wrong. Are these LED, CCFL or Plasma TV's?Last edited by CapLeaker; 09-11-2018, 06:55 PM.Comment

Re: Crazy Question needing answers please
What I am saying is that all the Voltages and the Control Voltages are correct. When I say they will not power on it means there is no picture, no backlights, no sound, the power indicator is on and there are no starting chimes. The entire unit is as if it is in some type of suspended sleep waiting on some type of signal to actually power on. Every one of the televisions I mentioned in my post ALL of them have the same exact problem except one and the power indicator flashes 6 times then turns solid then turns off. This is the best set it is a Samsung Model UN60H6203AF VERSION GH02. When it arrived the power indicator was blinking as stated. I cracked it open and found problems on both main and power boards. I ordered a complete set of replacement boards because I am not equiped to do smr. After installing the replacement boards the same problem continues. Power indicator flashes turns solid and unit powers off. In the remote chance the replacement boards were bad I reorder and replaced them a second time and it is still the same. I have checked every wire, every connection, every switch, everything I know to check and I am totally frustrated. I have very limited time to work on these televisions and for what every reason Samsung units totally mystify me. I repair LG, Emerson, Visio, etc with no problems. Not only that but I do this work for free other than the part cost and most of the sets I repair and give away to folks who still have antiquated sets. In the last 4 years I have sold 1 set to a man for 50 bucks just to shut him up. As soon as I have work space I will post pictures of the unit with voltage readings at all pins and anyplace else you want me to check. In the mean time thank you for your comments and advice. I will check back daily to see if anyone posts a response. Thanks

"What I am saying is that all the Voltages and the Control Voltages are correct. When I say they will not power on it means there is no picture, no backlights, no sound, the power indicator is on and there are no starting chimes."
So does PS-ON change state when you toggle power switch on and off? If you get all the correct Voltages when PS-ON from main board is present and all other control Voltage are present then main board is active.
Some of newer Samsung (LCD TV) if you disconnect the cable between power supply and the main board the backlights will come on right away when power up the TV which means the power supply and backlights are OK.
You have to start new thread for each TV and supply good pictures, that will be the starting point.
If all the Voltages and the controls signals (PS-ON, BL-ON, DIM) are all present the at least then the backlights should be on if backlights are OK. So you are 100% sure that all the Voltages and all control signals are present?
Put up one thread and show us the one with all the correct Voltages and control signals (show us the Voltages /signal readings) then we can troubleshoot the problem from there. Main board can't be dead if you have all the control signals.Last edited by budm; 09-13-2018, 12:15 AM.Never stop learning

by objecttothisI had a desktop form factor mini-server die on me a few weeks ago. Through my initial diagnostics, I was convinced it was the motherboard because when I shorted the Green wire on the ATX connecter, the multimeter gave me all the correct voltages on the various pins of the ATX connector and 5VSTB was also correct. To my surprise the replacement motherboard wouldn't turn on with the case power button either. I threw in another PSU and it turned on right away. This is an 80 Plus EVGA 430W PSU with PN:100-W1-0430. I pulled the cover off and don't see any immediately obvious blown caps or scorch...

by EazyBoneI am extremely new to programming and dipping into this. I picked up a XGECU T48 Programmer and have the correct socket for EMMC.
I took the EMMC off a working main board with no problems and threw it into the programmer. I click analysis IC and it gives me a report (attached) of the current EMMC. Model H26M41204HPR
1) I manually found this chip(above model number) in the select IC section of the XGPRO 12.xx programmer software and it had a option for 4 bit and 1 bit. I chose 4... is this correct?
2) In the options section point number 2 operation says "30...5 Photos -

Need just to know how do you guys determine what the problem is, when we have some fluctuating volt, to discard a faulty TPS 51125 , or if the issue is after this IC.
CRAZY JUMPING
PP3V3_S5 = 0v to 3.33 v jumping
PPBUS_G3H = 12.4v to 12.48 jumping a little
PP5V_S5 = 2v to 5v aprox, jumping fast
P3V3S5_ENTRIP = crazy jumping from low volt
SMC_PM_G2_EN = jumping 0v to 3.3v crazy
STEADY
P3V42_G3H=3.39V steady
PP5V1_CHGR_VDD=5.06v steady
PPCHGR_DCIN= 18.29 to 18.31 jumping

by harpI noticed that in schematics is used random triac simbol, where on gate side is T1 or T2. I know it pass current in both direction, so generaly it is not important, but ask for consistency to learn correct. Why is developed this two way of marking if symbol is standarized?...04-27-2024, 06:26 PM
