  • Vizio VX37L another one

Here we go again folks. Another Vizio VX37L problem. Had a power surge come through our cable box and into this set. I lost the TV and the DVD player plus the cable box had to be replaced. How it happened is strange because it fried the TV and DVD through the HDMI ports. Television board was so bad I opted to purchase both the main and power boards. TV will now turn on but will not turn off without unplugging set, screen is a grey color, no sound, video, menu, etc. I am struggling here folks. I have checked voltages and all appear to be in range. Could the T-con board be the culprit? I am shooting...

  • Re: Crazy Question needing answers please

What I am saying is that all the Voltages and the Control Voltages are correct. When I say they will not power on it means there is no picture, no backlights, no sound, the power indicator is on and there are no starting chimes. The entire unit is as if it is in some type of suspended sleep waiting on some type of signal to actually power on. Every one of the televisions I mentioned in my post ALL of them have the same exact problem except one and the power indicator flashes 6 times then turns solid then turns off. This is the best set it...

  • Crazy Question needing answers please

I currently have 5 Samsung TVs all different sizes that I have either repaired the boards or purchased complete new sets of boards for that will not turn on. I am frustrated beyond frustration and I am ready to chuck them and forget my losses. It makes absolutely no sense as I check pins and have correct voltage readings. I just finished replacing 5 caps on a power board where the screen went from normal to white out in 15 to 20 seconds. Now it refuses to turn on. I do not have factory remotes for any of these sets so I just use universal ones. Does anyone have any idea what is happening? Is there...

  • Re: Samsung LNT4671FX/XXA Intermittent all white screen.

I sure did on the values, I did substitute a higher voltage capacity on a couple like I replaced a 35v 1000uf with a 50v 1000uf but that doesn't matter in fact it actually is better plus I never buy caps that are not low esr. I only use Rubycon, Nichicon, Panasonic etc. Plus on one set instead of repairing the boards the owner wanted all new boards so I bought them from ShopJ and it still will not turn on.

I had the same problem on my LN37A450C1D. opened the back up and there were bad caps all over the place. I replaced them all now it won't turn on period. In fact I have 4 more all Samsung that I have repaired or replaced boards in that will not turn on!!! Has Samsung done something that keeps their TVs from turning on once you remove the power board? Is thre a secret do you have to use the remote? I am all out of solutions here.

Monitor works flawlessly for about 15 minutes then slowly starts to lose color. Picture remains colors are just all screwed up. Checked the power board but no visual signs of problems. I suspect overheating causing the problems as there is almost zero air clearance to dissapate heat. Any ideas or suggestions?

Okay 3rd. try my bad, just don't believe I think it through completely that is why I asked for help. Thanks for being patient with me. Seriously now I believe I have everything in the picture measured and I remembered to plug it in connect the power and main boards and turn it on LOL Major voltage changes on a couple in my thinking (maybe not to you guys). From looking at other boards the voltages for stb, sw, and brt/dim seem to be relatively correct. I updated the photo to show changes. Thanks...

A friend just gave me this TV and of course I need some assistance with it. All 7 threads about this unit are different from mine as they must have made 15 million different versions with the same model number just different parts. I am fairly certain I have it narrowed down to the audio/video main board as the problem but I am not a guru like you guys and I really appreciate it when you take time to help an old fart. Anyway when turned on it powers up, blue screen comes on looking for source then is go bat crazy. It starts poping and cracking, the screen stays blue but there are lines all over...

  • Re: Samsung Plasma S50HW-YB01

S50HW-YB01 is the model number located on the label on back of the unit. I finally found 2 bad caps hidden under a heat sink. I am in the process of replacing them now. will keep you posted.

Hey folks back with another problem on a plasma no less. My buddy had his unit hooked up to cable via the HDMI ports on the AV board when lightning ran in on it. Of course the board fried . He switched the input to component and the unit worked so he watched it that way until he asked me to fix it if possible. I replaced the av board looked over all the other boards and found no visual problems. I figured the guy lucked out big time. Well maybe not so much. The unit tries to power on the screen flickers the relay clicks the front on button flashes blue and then click turns it self off. This repeats...

Well I searched the threads for this television and found some interesting reading. I even found a couple of posts with the exact same problems, but no definite answers on repairing it. Mine has the standby blue light and when I touch the power button it goes off and it just sits there. Pulled the power supply board and found 3 bad caps and a crappy solder joint on another one. Replaced all with Nichicon and popped it back in. Guess what I still have the same problem. Any help would be appreciated especially if anyone has a service manual online I can access. Thanks in advance folks you guys are...

  • Re: Vizio sv370xvt

Just ordered the Tcon board. I don't believe it is the panel because the picture comes on beautifully for all of about 5 seconds before it goes crazy. If that doesn't fix it I will just turn around and resell the board plus the other parts.
    Thanks for your help.

Thanks for fixing the pictures, How did you do that? I tried to follow the instructions but they didn't open up like they were supposed to. I am going ahead and ordering a T-con board today. After it comes in I will post and tell if this corrected the problem. That should be middle of next week. Thanks for your help. I am still struggling to learn all of the ins and outs of diagnosing problems. I downloaded your guide for repairing monitors and televisions and it is a big help. I had a friend give me a 65" WD65833 Mitsubishi that is my next project. It has...

I don't know why the pictures do not open inside the post. I am sorry you have to click on each one separately in order to view them.

  • Re: Vizio sv370xvt

I have taken several pictures including ones that show the screen immediately after being turned on. The screen is completely lit up all the back lights are on. I had to split the power board into different pictures in order to provide up close pictures. I think there are a total of 14 different shots of the back. I was surprised by the number of solid state caps on the boards. Have they really started improving the quality of the boards in these televisions now that they have had so many problems?...
