Philips 42PFL9703D/10 failing to powering up.

I have just got the above Tv for £20, a bit of a bargain if you ask me, when I bought it I was told that it wouldn't start up, upon getting it home indeed it has a start up issue but after a few attempts it would power up, everything looks fine, screen is good, all menus, remote etc work. So I decided to move it to a position where I could view it properly and unfortunately from that point on it won't power up at all, all you get is the white flashing start up light and then nothing.

I have had a look at the PSU and nothing seems bad, I've tried gently heating components and nothing reacts, I've reflowed a few solder connections and still nothing, the only source of real information I've found on this issue is this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=27208. Within the thread there is talk of two small blue capacitors in the standby circuit that need replacing, I've tried measuring them but get no response in both directions, is this normal? is there anything else that could contribute to this issue? thanks, Andy.

Take it down and test it like that.

Even in ohm set shows value, diode mode, but the best is uF
Just cook it! It's already broken.

OK, so in the diode mode with the DMM I've tested other types of these capacitors and I'm finding the same thing, nothing shows up on the meter so I think this is perfectly normal, I could be wrong of course so next thing to do is just change them out anyway as per service manual, I have to ask though, can I get away with changing any of the values, so 305v for say a 620v? or a 68uf in place of the 47uf? thanks, Andy.

Can change to higher voltage but keep uF the same

Slightly higher voltage - but often you are limited by physical size.
it is usually ok to go one step higher uf as well.

Hi again, I have found these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371303831422, are they OK to use to replace the larger one with, a slightly different part number?

To answer my own question, it seems the "1" and "2" denote lead spacing, what I want is 10mm, the above component is 15mm.

Sorry, I've been referring back to the service manual but for clarity, there are two suppression capacitors in the standby circuit that can cause this start up issue, they are at positions 2165 and 2179 https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1363748752, one is rated at 22nf 305vac and the other 100nf 305vac, both need to be changed to B32921C3473M and B32921C3104M respectively, these I've now ordered. The numbers I mention are for the sixth digit along, 1 looks like it means for 10mm, 2 for 15mm. I hope this clarify's it some and thanks for the help with the parts.

You can use higher Voltage also, but not lower.

BTW, they are not suppression caps, the caps are for dropping the line Voltage instead of using resistor to lower Voltage.

Oh right, I was going by their description from where I bought them, the model number is correct so hopefully tomorrow they'll come and I'll be able to get this Tv working once more, thanks.

Hi again, the offending parts have now been changed and all seems well, it does seem to take a few more seconds than maybe it should for it to turn on properly so maybe some other caps may need changing but it works, that's the main thing so once again thanks to Badcaps, I wouldn't know where to start with out this place.

Good thing you fixed the tv.

Can it not be just the 2200UF caps that are failing?

I have a Philips 40PFH6510/88 TV which is not switching on. No no standby led, no nothing. There was no bang, no smoke, it was simply switched off and next day it did not switch on.

I got the power PCB out and visually checked it, I did not see anything unusal on it, the fuse is OK and no cracked, burned components on either side, capacitors looks OK to me.

Both big 450V capacitors are charging up to around 330V but on the secondary side I can't get any reasonal voltage on any output pins. Most are around 0.2-0.3 V. (not sure which one is standby,...

So i have a Philips 47PFH4109, and when i powering on the tv just blinks once, then after a 2 seconds blinks again, and does not turning on.
I mean i measuring voltages such like 30V on the leds and the 12 volts on the other panels, which seems to be okay.
I checked the backlight no issues with the leds.
I checked every component such as all the mosfets, all the diodes, i dont see any bad capacitors (unfortunatelly i only can measure up to 200uF).
I even took out the LD7591 chip and without it doing the same as before.

I already try the power button while plugin the plug with no result.
Also put the latest firmware autorun-TPM191E_R.001.004.100.000.upg on a MBR/FAT32 USB stick at USB port2 with no result either.

Could this be an PSU or eMMC issue ?

                                Hi all,

Wife has 2 Philips hair curling irons half defective - after learning how they're supposed to work and testing them, it turned out that both have defective power cables, and both on the same place; broken wires due to wire bending.
As they were both relatively easy to disassemble, and cables are plugged not soldered (as they can rotate in the handle), I was sure it would be easy to find replacements. But - NO! I'm unable to find anything similar on ebay or Aliexpress.

Not sure if this is something Philips proprietary, or a standard, but the cable plug...

                                Hi

I have here a Philips 47PFS7509/12 LCD TV which came to me with a weird problem : without signal i could access menu, make a factory reset, access menus, etc.
When i applied cable signal to check image, i had normal picture, but TV was restarting.
I downloaded original firmware and applied the update, but the problem remained.
From a colleague i received a "factory package software" which is a lot bigger.
I made another firmware update, but still did not solve the problem.
