Sony KDL-46Z4100 distorted image with green vertical lines

Hi Folks -

After 6 years this TV is giving me problems.

Symptoms: after some period of use (could be minutes or hours) TV gets vertical lines, distortion, and a green cast. Power cycling it will fix the problem.

Image and video below.

I haven't cracked open the case yet. From reading other posts, it looks like the T-CON might be the problem. Any insight or suggestions?

try re-seating tcon connector and maybe the ribbons into the tcon, could be a bad tcon, check this video for how to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNNhghZ1pkA

Thanks for the video link.

TV is now totally dead. On power-up the standby light flashes 14 times.

I tried reseating the connections to the t-con board. No luck.

Based on another thread I read, I disconnected the t-con board and tried powering up. Back to green LED and backlight.

Here are images of the labels and boards. I'm having a hard time finding a replacement board for sale.

Can anyone tell me which number is the best part number and/or where I could buy one?

There is a guy that has a repair service for these boards in eBay. Probably your best bet to get the tv back running.

look the tcon over real good, if you find anything labeled F, F=fuse, test it with multimeter.

those tcons seem pretty popular, so I wouldnt doubt thats your problem.

Actually I wouldn't be surprised is that was your problem. I've been spending a lot of time at this board now for various different failures from blown F 603 to slow refresh images to perfect working one minute to fading away locked up image that go us to vertical bars and noise on the screen. All tcon problems and not a panel issue. Still trying. Got 3 of these boards to repair to go into 3 good tvs. I can tell you if F 603 goes open you will get a blank picture upon startup and then 14 flashes. I've replaced all known component failures like the 4 diodes and ics that rrunt he voltage regulators and the voltage regulators themselves and doesn't solve any of the issues.

came across this repair kit, requires soldering, http://www.ebay.com/itm/SONY-T-con-R...-/141478161382 the little buggers don't show us the individual parts, just says 8 components.

repair service for 45 plus 10 shipping, you have to send them your board, it says for a kdl-40z4100, you could ask them if they can do yours, they appear to be an electronics repair shop.

I'm thinking theres a definite problem with these particular tcons, very seldom do I see the tcons costing way more than the main and power boards, like these seem to.

The link to Tri State Module is the right part but if you click to actually try to buy it, then it says out of stock.

I've got enquiries out to ebay seller masessum and to Coppell TV Repair to see if they can do it.

The part number on my board is different than what all the repair places have listed -- 55.46T03.C03 vs 55.46T02.C02.

Sony TCon on AUO panel?? Strange.. The symphtom seems very similar (solarization) to many AUO panels with AS15 faulty, here the gamma chip i don't know where is, maybe IC400 maybe IC901-IC902 but anyway the technique for soldering those become very inaccessible, i saw some video on youtube on how to do this but seems pretty near a sorcery.
