    Sony KDL-46Z4100 - T-con?

Sony KDL-46Z4100 turns on with the screen showing a few white lines that gradually goes mostly to white. Channels and menu items show (sometimes faintly). Interesting to me that when changing the channels they change very gradually fading out from on and fading in to the next.
I've read many of the threads on this model, but not sure if all the symptoms match. Cleaned ribbon connections with no change.
Any thoughts as to the probability of this being a T-con board problem?
Boards are kind of expensive for a 7 year old set, but may take a chance if probability seems to be T-con.
(took photo of back of TV with T-Con detached) Thanks.

I'd try a tcon, theyre usually pretty reasonably priced, if it dont fix it, at least you eliminated it and you have a spare if you ever need it, if you get one, be sure to match it up with your panel number.

        No
It is a T con problem

There are some surface mounted caps on the right side that if heated up will show a picture again... I forget.. but there are about 11 of them...

This T con is under a lot of heat..

Stupid question, but is it possible for a T.V to not have a T-con?
          I have a LCD T.V, but I don't see any T-cons

the LCD has to have a T-Con. Follow the LVDS cable from the main board to the T-Con. I is usually behind a metal shield close to the top or bottom.

Looks more like a panel problem to me. This model is known for the tcon failing but usually with the faulty gamma chip, though this problem doesn't look like that. The tcons for this model is hard to source and a little pricey.

On this tcon, usually when a as15 chip fails you will get horizontal lines where there is text or an image displayed on the screen. I suggest the first step would be to check the gamma voltages to confirm a failed as15 chip.

indeed glitcher the prices on this tcon are sick, I'd troubleshoot that tcon real good, see if you can't fix it on component level.

Sony 8K XBR-75Z8H White Screen Vertical Bars Tcon Code. Help Needed🙏
                    by Daren87
                    Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

Sony KD-65x8500b - bad Tcon or panel?
                    by rimwall
Hi, hoping for some views on this one which I've not come across before. The TV generates an image that has 12 noticeable bands across it. The image is still there and accurate, but the colour (or perhaps the brightness) changes gradually across each band which creates a noticeable 'step change' at the edge of each band. Given it's a 4K TV with 2160 rows of pixels, I'm guessing the 12 bands correspond to 12 gate drivers of 180 rows each. If this guess is right, then perhaps:
                    a) all the gate drivers are malfunctioning the same way (which seems unlikely), or
                    b) the Tcon board is malfunctioning,...

Sony KD-70X690E Bravia; Bad TCON? Bad panel?
                    by swrb898
What's wrong with my TV: the TCON, the panel, or something else? I'm stuck.

                    Problem:

Last week, my Sony KD-70X690E 70" stopped displaying a picture. The TV powers on, and the back lights power on. However, the TV doesn't seem to boot up. I say this because the SONY splash-screen logo does not display, nor does any picture display, nor can I invoke a menu by pressing "Menu" on the remote. Other than back-light bleed, the screen is black.

My troubleshooting got me this far:

With the left-hand TCON to bottom-board ribbon cable...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                    by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
                    by Hakuu
                    Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.
