  • Re: Sony KDL-46Z4100 - T-con?

    No
It is a T con problem

There are some surface mounted caps on the right side that if heated up will show a picture again... I forget.. but there are about 11 of them...

This T con is under a lot of heat..

  • Re: Vizio M261VP no Backlight!

    Hi

Since there are pictures on this already.. I will not post any... However, I have gotten my first one in and all it is doing is the white standyby light is blinking..

I have taken it apart and the external power supply is measuring the 19.2 volt

That Mosfet U8 also shows no output.. but 19.2 in... But there is no sound.. You cannot turn the set off or on... So is lack of output on U8 responsible for that???

Thank you all for your time and this invaluable thread..

  • Re: Sanyo DP46480 2s to black

    Hi
It has been a while since I have posted and during that time have learned a great deal..... One of the sets that have been a biggie in the learning curve has been the Sanyo's

In this series Sanyo and for all others there are a current sensing line that lets the main board (micro) know if too much current is being pulled.... Having said that, there is also a similar current sensing line that is in the inverter board too.. Multiple redundancies...

This Sanyo has numerous issues with bad bulbs and also bulbs that...

  • Toshiba 34HD82 tearing of picture

Hi all and hope you had a Good Thanksgiving!!
I got this Tv in with the picture tearing or zig zag. Customer said it would get
better as time went on. I had seen this problem like about 12 years ago and do remember
that it was a cap that had dried up. I think it was on a Sony.

There were no obvious solder joints altho I did touch up some solder joints around
the tuner section on the main signal board. Any ideas??

The pictures are attached and maybe someone has seen this before on Toshiba's

  • Samsung LNA 4065A negative picture Fixed!

    Hi all and Happy Thanksgiving!

    This Tv came in from Illinois (5 hours away) with the customer complaining of red sparkling halo effect and I thought he was talking about reverse picture;

We plugged the Tv in and it ran great for the first three weeks. Then, it started to act up. Kinda like a negative or reverse picture.

The customer was in town and we had him come in to look at it... He said that was the problem except it was red... Our symptoms showed Green.

    See the following pictures.

    The first thing...

  • Re: Samsung LN40A530P1F - Shuts off from time to time

    A thought to consider;

Do not use a hair dryer as it will not sufficiently mimic self contained heat... If you have a harbor freight tool place near by, get the 1000 / 1500 watt heat gun / stripper.

This heat gun stripper will literally heat components in a way that will cause an intermittent shut down to occur rather quickly. This heat gun does not have a high velocity blower on it but it is steady and brings heat up very nicely in a specific area. It will maintain the heat for a longer period...

  • Sanyo DP42849 black flash once, has sound

    Hi

This Sanyo DP42849 will flash and shut down upon start... Still have sound.

No obvious bulging caps. Checked them all and they were good.

The big connector (CN2) have the 5 volt standby, the 12 volt as well as the 13 volt for audio.

The smaller connector (CN6) has the 5 volt standby, BLON is 2.44 volt and the BLDIM is 3.26 volt.

Just to see if this would change anything, I disconnected the BLDIM to see if the backlight would come and stay on... It did not.

I apologize for the quality of the pictures,...

  • Re: Samsung LN40A530P1F - Shuts off from time to time

I could not see if there was a cap in the board that has shrink tubing around it. I have had a few of these come in with the tubing and the caps were bad from excessive heat build up.. The caps that had the shrink tubing insulation were small values.

Check the inverter transformer with a flyback checker to see if any are breaking down. An old flyback checker like sencore 48 would work.

    Just a couple of ideas

    Thank you DGtech.

I went back and looked closer.
#1, I do have back light
#2 No sound and no picture.
#3 Cycling on and off. No response from controls being pressed.

I am leaning now toward the main module which is BN41-00840A or am I making a wrong assumption??

Samsung LNT 4053H powers up for about 90 seconds but back lights never come on. Checking capacitors show nothing bad.

The inverter board's fuse is good. All the voltages are checking good on the power supply board.

Is this just an automatic inverter board replacement??

Can the T Control module cause the inverter backlights not to work??

  • RCA L26HD35D Pulsating screen/ t control?

    Hi

I had posted this earlier for a schematic and still have not been able to track this down..

So went to try to figure this out...

The set has a thumping and pulsating screen... Sooooo tried voltage measurements on the power supply and no shifting of voltages to account for the thumping and pulsating.

I started to disconnect modules .... I disconnected the inverter and still thumping.. Disconnected the panel connection and the thumping went away... reconnected the inverter and the back light came up.... no pulsating and no thumping...

At the bottom of the PDF file.. there was a revision list that had the correct parts...

3045 was the resistor that burned up... along with the diode which was a 9.1 volt zener half watter... I replaced with a 1 watt.... the resistor was a 2.2 ohm... Set now works like a champ...

  • Re: Bad Power Supply

    Hi
    This schematic can be found here;

While it says it is a 37 inch... it is also for a 47 inch.

There will be a list of parts.. Also parts location on the board.. Parts will be numbered in 4 digits.

At the end of the pdf file, there will be a revision page..... Some of the 37 and 47 inch tv's had revisions.

The tv's power supply does burn up around the zener diodes... The ones I have had to replace are 9.1 volt and am using 1 watt instead of the half watt that is called for.

    Do supply...

    Hi
The following link makes for interesting reading.. It looks like Vizio has stepped up to paving the way of planned obsolescence on their televisions.

    What will be next????

  • Vizio SV420M sometimes powers up with bad picture

This Vizio SV420M came in with the complaint that it comes on sometimes but has bad picture. Customer could not describe if it was dim or partially scrambled.

The set would not come on for us. We checked the 5 volt standby on the power supply board (1st picture) and is there. The 12 volt is not. The on off signal does work.

All the caps, diodes, transistors were checked and do check okay. No burned marks or poor solder connections.

Does anyone happen to have a schematic for this unit as there are two variable pots that are covered up.......

  • Re: insignia NS-32LCD

Several things to consider and to look for.

    1) The supply voltage (24) volts may be okay but it is being dragged down. Check to see if you have an abnormally hot inverter transformer. If one of them are heating more so than the others....You may want to check around that transformer and see if there is burning going on. Replacing that transformer may solve the issue. Also check caps on the inverter board too.

    2) You also may have one of the 'tubes' going bad which will also drag down your supply voltages, other members on here can...

  • Magnavox 37MF321D/37 Parts Look up

    Hi all

We have this Magnavox/Philips 37MF321D/37 with the dead set. The 2200uf 25VDC was blown. Part number 2074. The picture of the foil side of the power module shows burned marks around the diode (number 6079) and resistor (number 6045) which is located next to the diode.

We are able to replace the diode but do not know the value of the resistor (6045) Does anyone have the value??

Also I see that there is a repair kit for these listed on ebay that involves some diodes and other caps. Anyone know about these kits and or locations of parts?...

The 2nd picture is the one where the fuses are... On this board, the diodes, filters, and other semiconductors were checked for shorts..

My main question was in respects to a fault in the plasma tube and if it would create the loud cracking /arc sound..

  • HP PL4260N Arc/POP/Crack (bad Plasma tube?)

    Hi

This HP PL4260N came in with the complaint of a loud bang/Pop/Cracking sound and the set went dead.

Opened it up and found that the power supply two large input filters were bulging. Checked to find that they both read close to 330UF and no leakage (they were out of circuit when tested) Re-installed the filters as I did not have any replacements)

A fuse was blown in the high voltage section of the plasma power (Picture number two in the upper right side). The fuse (4 amp) was replaced and the set powered up. When the set was on for about 5 seconds......
