Westinghouse LD-3235 32" LED fix for cable issue

Hello. I inherited two Westinghouse LD-3235 TV's that have a known problem. The screen will start to distort and jitter. This seems to be related to the Tcon cable. I tried cleaning it which seems to be the answer, but I am still having the problem. This TV was made in 2011 I believe. I was wondering if anyone knows if there was a fix for this (new cable, etc). Also, has anyone else fixed this problem with the cable supposedly oxidizing? Is there a way to clean the contacts?

    Thanks!

Hello. The T-CON circuitry is integrated in the panel on this model across the top. the "known" issue with this model is the oxiadation of the cable between the main board and screen. I have tried cleaning and reseating it and it works for a while and thens comes back. I am wondering if I am not cleaning it correctly or another issue. This problem is well documented online over the last 2 years. I am wondering if Westinghouse replaced that cable with a better version or if there is a different fix that I am missing. I bought 5 of these TV"s all with the same problem, and fixed 2 of them but three continue to do it..

Had the same problem with one I picked up. Mine has a version # of TW-64411-U032E and darn if they didn't put a removable port on the back where the data cable exits the main board and goes to the TCON. Mine just took a little bit of wiggling and pressing into the connectors to restore the picture. I'm thinking tape right now to hold it tightly in a position with the picture on. Connector looks pretty standard so will start looking for a substitute cable. The original is a wired cable which may have been poorly assembled. I fixed a similar cable one time by getting all the wires pressed in tightly then applying a little hot glue to lock them in place so they couldn't move or back out. Other than that, a new cable may be the only fix. Good luck.

Were you able to find a replacement cable? I picked up one of these a week ago. I cleaned both ends of the cable and the set has played fine for a week. Now it's back to doing the same thing again. Cleaned the ends again and it played fine for about 2 hours and then it started again.

You might try and clean it with a pencil eraser. Also, look at the contacts under a 5X magnifying glass and see if the contacts are not being bent by the connectors. The LED push in cables on another type of Westinghouse 26 " TV I have noticed have a piece of plastic glued on top of the end of the cable. This plastic goes all the way to the end of the connection of the cable. This plastic was used because the thickness of the cable was not enough to press in to the connector. I do not know if this is the same with your t-con cable, but if it is you can look into the connector and notice that only one point is making contact with the cable. This point also bends the cable contacts. I have also found that the connector on the Westinghouse TV was not solder to the board on some of the pins. They were just making contact by pressure and I suppose that they would work that way until about 2 years when they became oxidized. So I guess the first thing I would do is re-solder the contact pins to the board.

I typically use a white pencil eraser and then give it a shot of electronics cleaner to make sure there is no eraser left on it and the ribbon connector on the board is as clan as accessibility allows it to be.

JeffJ what we found is that the white ink eraser took to much of the material off of the contact. Do they also make a white pencil eraser?

Cleaned the cable with everything possible. The set would still start acting back up that day or the next. Took the mainboard out and checked the soldering on the cable connector. It looked like cold solder joints under a loupe so I applied some paste flux and reheated each pin for a few seconds. The TV has been playing great for over 2 weeks now.

For those of you that run into this problem and cleaning the cable doesn't fix your issue, check the solder joints at the connector on the mainboard.

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)
                        by Tr0ll
Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                        Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                        First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

Samsung UN65TU8000 - Panel Issue [ hole in ribbon cable ]
                        by NWArkGuy
Well, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...

In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.

I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ...

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
                        by rounin
                        Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

                        🛠 Original Issue
                        The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

Three 820-01700 32GB Logic Boards Same Issue: Won't Wake From Hibernate
                        by ugamazing
I have three identical-spec 820-01700 boards (2.6/32/512), and ALL THREE boards came to us with the same fault, from different sources: The boards don't wake from hibernation with the keyboard or lid, they ONLY wake when you press the power button. I understand this is a very minor issue, but the boards must be fixed!

We will of course begin with the obvious (checking lid signals), but I couldn't help but notice these three boards were all 32GB variants. Has anyone noticed an issue relating to these 32GB boards in particular? I of course don't think it's a RAM issue, but it's bizarre...

                        by scubacamper
I found another post on this site the other day which has been very helpful in troubleshooting this issue I am having with my tv. The left half of the screen is dark, and the other half is VERY slow to generate it's image - and it only generates part of its image at that.
Based on this yt video, I have narrowed it down to an issue (short?) on the left side of the display, somewhere in the system of ribbon cables.
when I remove the bezel and the rear cover, I can get the image to display correctly by manipulating the ribbon cables on the left side which connects the left lower display...
