  • Re: LG 47LV5500 - No picture, no back light, no sound, powers on.

Want to thank everyone for their great advice and guidance. Had the same problem with a throwaway I picked up. Went through all the steps to confirm the power board and backlights were good so looked like time to follow your advice and give the main board a shot. Pulled the main board an removed the heat sink. Most of the hot air work I do is on individual small parts so normally use a quite small nozzle. Change to a larger nozzle that seemed appropriate for the larger video chip, set to 400 degrees, applied flux...

  • Re: Visio E5501-B2 no picture or sound

This was GREAT advice from capwizard and others. These are probably cycling out of the inventory since they're getting older but I picked up one the other day. Even had an extra set of boards. Neither set worked. Checked cn202 and sure enough, the solder joints had failed on both power boards. Cleaned up the old solder and resoldered with 60/40. Now I have two good power boards and the set plays like new. What a simple fix. Thanks to all who helped.

  • Re: Samsung un58j5190 power supply failed

Just an add-on if someone reads this post. Got a backlight taster and the backlights were bad which is what burned out the power board. May help you diagnose if you see this damage. Hard to make a case for repair when I have no use for it and the value is close to the repair cost. I mostly donate them anyway and like donations that bring several times the investment. Anyway this forum is a great resource and I appreciate the help. Thanks again.

  • Re: Samsung un58j5190 power supply failed

Thank you very much. I think I have some 3N40s on some other junk boards I’ve collected. The IC looks like an SEM 5027A. Don’t know if I have one of those but $3 maybe. Tkhe nearby resistor and diode on the top side of the board seem ok. Looking at the board I thought it would be junk but I checked the traces from the FET and all had “0” ohm continuity and none were shorted to other traces so I thought I might replace a few components and see if the board will fire back up. I’ve been to ShopJimmy and they say...

  • Samsung un58j5190 power supply failed

I need a component # on my power supply board. Backlights failed and shorted the transistor that regulated the power to them. Model number is: UN58J5190AFXZA. Board number is: BN44-00787A. Part is located on back side near the backlights power plug. Location ic Q9102C. Transistor is heat damaged and I can't read the number. Can anyone help?

  • Re: Westinghouse LD-3235 32" LED fix for cable issue

Had the same problem with one I picked up. Mine has a version # of TW-64411-U032E and darn if they didn't put a removable port on the back where the data cable exits the main board and goes to the TCON. Mine just took a little bit of wiggling and pressing into the connectors to restore the picture. I'm thinking tape right now to hold it tightly in a position with the picture on. Connector looks pretty standard so will start looking for a substitute cable. The original is a wired cable which may have been poorly assembled....

  • Re: Samsung LNS3251DA won't power on, no sound, no standby light-power board problem

Thanks, response has been amazing. Tom66, followed your link and got the schematic. Very helpful.

Awyatt2, couldn't quite match the numbers you provided. Still no trouble finding the first two fuses. Both have full contenuity with zero resistance. The pico fuse was more of a problem. Thought they were small fuses that looked like resisters without the stripes. None of those on the board. I have no FN831 location. However, do have a location FM851 (see picture), Part actually looks...

  • Re: Samsung LNS3251DA won't power on, no sound, no standby light-power board problem

Sorry, practically every component has a BN#, but didn't see anything starting with BN44. There is a model number, LN-S3251D A, and a model code, LNS3251DX/XXA. A second label on the back has the model code, serial number and a version number AM03. No stickers inside the case. Thanks for the quick response.

  • Samsung LNS3251DA won’t power on, no sound, no standby light-power board problems

When the power cord is plugged in, the standby LED flashes once and goes out. The set does not power up. This model uses power board BN96-03775A. To provide a search reference for others with similar problems, this power board is also listed for models LNS3251D, LNS3251DX, LN32B530FXZA, LN40B530FXZA, LN3241D, LN3241DC, LN3241DX, LNS3238DX, LE32S73BDX, LES3251D, LES3251DA, LES3251DX, LES3251D, LES3251DX. There is an “XXA” suffix after many of these models on a second tag on the back of the set.
The power board appears to be the problem. With the main board disconnected, the only output...

  • Re: Your Best Dumpster Finds

Would like a dumpster find but none to date. I know two people operating a home business acting as computer system consultants. They support businesses and build or buy and install, network setup, etc. People sometimes ask them to take the broken ones away and if they have no better use, they give to me. I fix and give to the Salvation Army or srip for parts. If you can find someone like that, then it's like a dumpster with refills. Best finds to date are a few motherboards with core2 processors and hard drives >200 GB. I have 3 or 4 of those old...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

I am a retired natural resource manager and have lived in a lot of out of the way places. Basically fix your own stuff or it doesn't get fixed. So small engines, amature machineist, a little welding, and not a bad mechanic when cars used carbruetors and distributors. Began piddling with electornics when my old 70s era Sansui amp blew a power board and found it interesting. Now fixing computers and flat screens is one of my passtimes when my wife and I aren't traveling, playing golf, or otherwise engaged. Have no formal training,...
