Hi. I have a Samsung LCD tv that has a very bright picture. I've tried the picture reset in the menu, did'nt help. It powers on normally. Has good sound. I've taken the back off, and inspected it. I did not find any burnt parts or bulging caps. Any advised will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Samsung LCD TV has Very Bright Picture - LN40A500T1FXZA
Interesting. One of my Samsungs used to do that for about 1 minute, a few times a week at random. Not quite that bright though.
Hasn't done it for a quite a while now.36 Monitors, 3 TVs, 4 Laptops, 1 motherboard, 1 Printer, 1 iMac, 2 hard drive docks and one IP Phone repaired so far....Comment

I ordered a brand new T-Con board, but the problem did NOT change. Any other suggestions? ThanksComment

Re: Samsung LCD TV has Very Bright Picture - LN40A500T1FXZA
I would suggest testing the gamma voltages first, to see if the T-con you have is defective ("brand new"? or "used from scrapped TV"?). If it is not, then it is probably panel. A small chance the main is bad.
If you need help testing the gamma voltages, post a close shot of the T-con.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Between the two white ribbon cables is a box marked GAMMA. This is your test area. On each gold pad marked with a number measure the voltage there. Red probe on test point black on chassis. DC20V range. You're expecting a monotonic (same direction) increase or decrease from 1-17, in the range of 0-15V.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Re: Samsung LCD TV has Very Bright Picture - LN40A500T1FXZA
The TV it was previously opened?
Do you see missing screws?
On one of the TVs, I took off the panel's metal frame, and when I put it back I have damaged a tiny pot on the panel's thin board. The screen looked like yours.Comment

Definitely a defective gamma IC there; the voltages are all over the place. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Samsung LCD TV has Very Bright Picture - LN40A500T1FXZA
That's what I thought when I seen the eratic voltages. This is the original T-con board. I've already returned the new board, Personally, I don't think the new board was "NEW", it had several scratches on the back of it. Should I get a different board? And Thanks for your time.Comment

I would try that. New boards usually mean used on eBay, everyone lies it appears....Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Samsung LCD TV has Very Bright Picture - LN40A500T1FXZA
To tom66: Bought a used board from a working TV with a broken panel, and it worked perfectly. So yes, those so called "NEW" boards on Ebay are used and untested. Thank You so much for your help.Comment

Re: Samsung LCD TV has Very Bright Picture - LN40A500T1FXZA
Also, the voltages should be symmetric about the mid point of around 7.5V. Both T-cons are defective. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

by TR103Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
- sound and backlight, but no picture
- when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
- it keeps rebooting
- without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
- when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

by JJAAMMThis was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.
Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode... -
by SchwoinHey everyone,
the picture on my philips monitor looks way too bright so that black appears grey and colors also seem too bright.
While i tried to tilt the screen a little bit while it was displaying a picture, i´ve noticed, that there appeared some purple pixels. In the following picture
you can see them on the top half of the photo.
At a certain point during the tilting, the picture looked normal again but as soon as i laid it back down, the purple pixels were gone and the picture was bright again.

by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... - Loading...
