what i did was remove the connector and move it in and out gently
i will do again just to be sure
i really cant afford a new tv at the moment
it was weird when the fault initially occured(months ago, i dont watch tv anyway) i was watching red dwarf and the picture slowly started to get darker...

I guess it's possible the backlight/s are bad or going bad.

I am still not too sure about there only being 5v into the Tcon - I am not sure that is enough. Can you trace back from the fuse to the contact/s on the connector then follow the cable back to the main board and then follow the 5 volts to see where it comes from. Then post a clear picture to show us the area.

Just checked the service manual for my sharp tv with a very similar tcon and that says 5v too. Its marked also on the mainboard as "5v LCD"
Do NOT touch heatsinks when testing for voltages as they may be LIVE!

Service manual for a sharp tv, has the same tcon as yours.

Sorry, had to link it because its too big to upload here.
