well that o2 micro chip does the switching controls of back light and what not it looks like?.....would make sense it to be a possible suspect.... just need to figure out how to test it...doing some reading myself.....thanks for sticking with me on this one, quite determined to figure this one out....thou i have much too learn...

From the look of the board on the bottom side, it looks impossible for me to trace out the connections, still amaze how many Diodes it has in the inverter section, looks like at least 25 small diodes.
So far no spec sheet except the one in the link I gave earlier.

OK, I would like to find out if all the high voltage Inverter transformers are putting out the high voltage, you will need a Fluorescent lamp, solder a small solid wire to the bottom of the base to use it as a high voltage probe.
Remove one lamp connector at a time, with the TV off, hold the Fluorescent lamp in your hand then stick the probe to the socket just enough to touch the pin on the socket, then turn on the TV, you should see the Fluorescent should flash on to indicate that it is putting out high voltage. Turn the TV off and then do the next lamp sockets to see if all of them will flash on the Fluorescent.

OK, after hours of searching, I found Philips TV that uses this IC OZ9926 for the inverter circuit. So check and see if pin20 has 24vdc voltage for the B+ for it to run.
If it does, then short out pin 13 (Lamp current sensor) to ground to see if the lamps will stay on.

well i am certain that it does i already had this set apart and it will light all of its tubes for a good 1 1/2 seconds and very bright 1 1/2 second..... it has the u tube type come to find out....

OK, Try shorting out pin 13 and see if it will stay on,or you may try new IC.

ok tried shorting out pin 13 to ground and nothing ..soldered a wire to pin 13 and pig tailed it to other side so i could mount board and do the test...and same results...

trying to figure out how how to test for 24 volts when board is mounted and powered on since the ic is on underside... probably have to solder a pig tail to that as well......

Not sure if this inverter use 24v dc or not. What DC voltage do you get on that secondary DC filter cap? I believe you had replaced the Rectifier Diode in that section.

This inverter uses about 60V, I think.

i will get readings for the dc filter cap ...i have not replaced any diodes at all in this set ...none of them are bad i tested them all ...i think your getting me confused with the guy that started this thread who did in fact change those 3 diodes because he had a short or open reading but the diodes on mine are fine and dandy....and same with another fella on here, his tested all good as well....

okay well the chip is officially dead the test killed it ...now i get no flash anymore ...the dc filter cap tries to climb to 30 volts but something is driving it back down.....it will slowly climb to 30 volts for a split sec then dwindle down to 10 volts ...now i have 2 problems here....

The IC only drive the MOSFET, so if it does not time out, then the MOSFET may be damaged and can also be that there is bad transformerds or somethng that was already bad finally failed when it is being driven and force on. The link indicated that one of the transformer got hot.

It is what ever the TIMER PIN control is, so you used the same pin number but not the TIMER pin? The whole purpose is to kill the timer pin.

never can get it to stay on to see if it has a bad transformer ...wish i had a ring tester.....the oz chip did not fry into smokes but now i lost that brief flash i had......right after that test so i guess i assumed it killed the oz chip...then again it could have finally finished off what was failing the whole time ....

Well, lets us know if the new inverter board fixed the problem.
By the way TIMER pin for this OZ9926 is pin 15 as shown in post 64.
I was hoping that when you shorted out the TImer pin, the lamps will stay on.

                                            clock radio / radio lifespan?
                                            by shelby5041
                                            hi
ive got a modern digital clock radio approx 15yrs old

my question is how long can a clock radio or a simple radio last ss farcas operating hours?

since elec components have limited hour lifecspan i would imagine the radio or clock radio would eventually fail.

the reason i ask is because i have my clock radio on radio function 24/7 for the past 7 years and its still working fine....i leave the radio on ..never turn off past 7years...thats approx 60000 hours

it uses very little power just a few watts i would imagine that may have something...

Elitebooks (820, 840 etc. all gens) and those continuously flashing Power LED + flashing CapsLock LED
                                            by STKR123
As the Elitebooks (820, 840 all gens) only show flashing Power LED and flashing CapsLock (continuously) + a very soft "ticking" noise near the DC Jack,
I wonder if re-flashing the BIOS might be of any use here.

As far as I understood, steady flashing either means insufficient power or a CPU/GPU/Motherboard issue. I use the original 65watt power supply.

There are so many threads out there, but most of the solutions involve flashing codes, which I dont have or claim that you MUST use the original power supply, do a hard reset, reseat the RAM, clean the RAM,...

                                            LCD TV Green/Pink screen problem

I have a Dick Smith 37" LCD TV, Model GE6804. I am using it as PC extended monitor only.

Problem is while watching tv, I hear a semi loud click(like a electrical breaker tripping due to overload, just sound like it but no actual electrical overload), then screen is covered with green or pink. I can still see the original picture image but overlayed by green or pink. See attached images. Pink.jpg is what I see, and Normal.jpg is before green or pink screen, What I captured was pink screen, but about 80% of time it's green and 20% of time it's pink.

                                            Then each time...

Sharp TV flashing green light 2x per second at constant rate. Various reset methods do not have any effect on it. Search here and found flashing green 2x per second indicate bad power supply, which I am quite certain now.

I am seeking help with basic trouble shooting to find the short-circuit on the secondary side that I believe is the cause:

                                            The main PD connector:

                                            PD-2 (PNL12V) : 0.02V (fluctuating)
                                            PD-3 (SGRN) : 0V
                                            PD-4 (SGRN) : 0V
                                            PD-5 (UR13.2V) : 0.05V (fluctuating)
                                            PD-6 (UR13.2V) : 0.05V (fluctuating)...

                                            Dear all,

I have this old radio clock by Sony from the early 80s, I guess. The clock display works, but is dim, the function board appears to be OK - but the radio unit shows no signs of life. It doesn't produce a single noise, crack or anything from either FM or AM band. It's like it doesn't even power up.
i opened the radio and it is full of some TRACON gray capacitors. They only have their negative strip printed, voltage and capacitace markings - no series, no temperature marking, nothing else.
My question is, do you know of this brand of capacitors and how bad are...
