    Bad Power Supply

I am looking for a repair kit for a Magnavox LCD TV with a few bad Capacitors. The model number is 47mf437b/37. The green power lite comes on and that is all.
This TV has Capxon Capacitors, I found 3 on the power suply board that are bulged and two diodes that are discolored around the board. I also found 1 bad capacitor on the main componet board. The power supply board is 715T2454-2. I would consider buying a new power supply.

    Re: Bad Power Supply

You need to make your own kit.

That's a better plan anyway because same make/model screens can have completely different boards in them.
Also kits generally either have more than you need or not enough.

Not all bad caps bloat so a visual inspection isn't enough.
Replace all the Chinese craps with good Jap caps of appropriate grade.

If you don't know what capacitors to use to replace the existing ones, try to make some snapshots of the boards and write down (and post here) everything written on the capacitors and we'll try to recommend some good parts for you.

For the caps list: Make, -SERIES-, uF, Volts, -DIAMETER-
There are a bunch of people here that can match grades for you.

              Hi
              This schematic can be found here;

While it says it is a 37 inch... it is also for a 47 inch.

There will be a list of parts.. Also parts location on the board.. Parts will be numbered in 4 digits.

At the end of the pdf file, there will be a revision page..... Some of the 37 and 47 inch tv's had revisions.

The tv's power supply does burn up around the zener diodes... The ones I have had to replace are 9.1 volt and am using 1 watt instead of the half watt that is called for.

Do supply some pictures and along with what I have, should be able to get you going again.

              Bill

                  Re: Bad Power Supply

Hi everyone! I am new to this particular forum and need some help...Can anyone provide the schematic for this model?

I replaced a few bad caps with the Q901 (STW18NK80Z) and 2 diodes about 3-4 weeks ago. The set came back with the following parts blown:
                  • Q901 blown (STW18NK80Z) blown
                  • IC904 blown (8pin IC , TEA1507P)
                  • R963 blown
                  • D914 blown (surfacemount diode)

I need the schematic to know the exact value to use for the diode and resistor. Isuspect the Q901 that was replaced the first time may have been faulty and caused it to damage the other parts as well...

Can anyone help?? Thanks in advance!

                                Re: Bad Power Supply

I have seen something which suggests D914 has the same value as D915 and
R963 has the same value as R964

Are D914 and D915 on the bottom of the board if so that could be correct.
BUT if R963 is on the top of the board I cant see R964 ??
However there maybe several different boards / revisions
Can you do Pics of where the items are/were and close ups of D915 and R964
