Closing the tv up until the parts arrive. Would rather not go tv shopping at this point.

All SONY equipment has a lot of protection and any malfunction leads to protection (look at the motherboard, how many smd fuses are in it, not one company installs so many ...).

Look, Sony has board binding (motherboard, t-con and panel), if you change something, you will have to do an update via USB.

Sorry, but none of that is going to fix it.

It’s backlight issue. All the repair shops that fix mainboards on eBay specifically say don’t send the mainboard if it’s 4 red flashes.
Nicks tv also mentions replacing the leds on this model as the bypass to ground doesn’t work on your model

not sure if the blink code always tells the truth, I had 4 blinks, grounded out bl-error wire, 4 blinks went away but tv still did not have a picture, after lots of testing, put the bl-error wire back in original place, the 4 blinks did not return, but still no picture, these tvs are ridiculous.

well, the replacement board came and is in. Still giving the same 4 flashes.

Is there a guide to access and replace the backlight?

It’s the same as any tv. The only difference is the frame slides from one side to unlock it.

replace each strip 1 by 1 or outline all the current strips for reference. Sonys engineers did a real bang up job on this one. Lol

I've not had a tv apart before so no idea what to expect. I guess I'll go with the plan of removing all screws that I see and go from there.

still curious about that cap post #44, did you test it to see if it shows continuity on both sides to ground like the original board does?

Yes, on the replacement board, that cap has continuity to ground on both sides.
The board was described as fully functional from a broken screen unit.

Do not measure continuity, measure resistance, if it's inline with the processor it will have a low resistance.

I managed to get the tv apart. I bought a led tester and found 1 bulb that does not turn on. I'm guessing that's the issue causing the 4 red flashes.

the 4 blink code was right on, bad backlight, could have taken it apart and solved it a week ago.

the backlight error pin being low is what threw me a little, because a lot of them are like over 2 volts when there's a backlight issue.

Yup, that seems to be the issue. New led strip is in and the tv turned on. Now to figure out where all of these screws go. Guess I should have kept better track of where they came from.

easy low tech way to keep track of screws is an egg carton, you can label the spots 1-18 etc. if you have one of those dozen and a half ones.

                                          by EazyBone
So I got this Sony and purchased it working.. got it home and it was 4 blinks red. Seller actually refunded me thankfully. Now it's massive to take apart and I know 4 blink can be the panel sometimes but not always..

But I found a method through other ways with grounding out the bl error pin on the LD driver board. Now the tv turns on and works.

Pin is number 27. It was either remove the resistor right next to the solder pad or solder the pad to ground. I soldered the pad.

Now what is this going to do to the tv? Is it just going to die shortly down the road?...

I just removed the back cover to test the backlights because when I first plug it in it will flash once and then start dark but I can see the image. I got 131v on string 1 and 167v on string 2. Usually when I get a bad set the meter reads 300v and they won't light up. When testing, each set lights up inside the tv. When I plug in the power and check the leads with my multimeter both strings are only about 3v.

Does this difference in voltage between the strings indicate that the lesser has bad LEDs? Or is it normal that they are not the same voltage? I've read some about this tv and...

For anyone interested just repaired this Sony Main board TV that had a 2 blink error code, the chassis is a RB2G which is common to quite a few different Sony models. The Ceramic 10uF 25V X7R 1206 capacitor C9114 was shorted which took the smd 2A 0603 fuse out F9101. This was powering the Buck converter TPS54332 which caused no 5V output from it.
See the attached picture of the locations of both components. I also attach the best service manual I found for this board for anyone else in a similar position of trying to repair this main board. It's not specific to the TV model however it gives...

Another eazybone post took on this OLED now.

Symptoms. Hit power, white light shows briefly and then 5 blink red code. TCON issue per chart on first picture.

I'm thinking I have a power board issue though, which is one of the options

Now to check pin voltages from PSU to main and PSU to tcon
