ATX stby voltage too low +1.8v

    hi!
Got fuj. siemens esprimo c5910 with power issue : no reaction to switch.

To make pc start, need to power up PSU alone without load (by grounding pson) before connecting it to mobo

All PSU voltages are checked ok without load (stby voltage=+5v), but when connected to mobo, stby voltage becomes low : 1.8V.

Steps taken : swapped PSU with a good working one, pc starts normally.

Concluded that PSU is culprit, and particularly stby rail.

Opened PSU case, all caps are looking fine.

Any idea as what are the main stby rail check points and where to dig further to help fixing this issue ?

    Thank you

Post the make and model of the psu and good pics of the psu guts, top and bottom of the board. then someone may be able to help ts it.

Any hi res pictures from top and bottom to go with this? I think that this is a "special" PSU as it is rectangular tube shaped and does not use a standard ATX PSU case.

        hi,

        PSU model : NEWTON POWER LTD MODEL : NPS-210BB A REV : 08 -210W

Unfortunately, no specific schematic found on the net.

        Here attached some photos.

probably bad caps on the standby causing voltdrop when there is actually a load.
specially in that, it's packed like a train during rush-hour!

Sorry Board1 and 2 uploaded were same.

Here attached real Board2 of PSU.

Caps are looking quite fine. If no other fix found, will change all caps on stby rail.

They can look "fine" but still be bad. Without an ESR meter, you can't really know for sure.
So in cases like yours, it is best to change them. I've seen bad caps (that looked physically good) make the 5 VSB act weird in more than one occasion.

ATX stby work proper but no output

i have i ball xpx-252 psu in which i get standby voltage perfectly, & also get power on volt but i cant get final output of 5,12,3.3 etc
i have checked al componant all is well. i have found that power transformer not get voltage in it's primer nor secondary , i dont know how to check drive pulse in circuit.
                      please guide me.
                      i am beginner.

@ nimit: start a new thread and post some pictures of your power supply there.

                          Hi Guys,
I have this 2008 lcd tv that uses ccfl lamps. The tv is stuck on standby. This is what I have noticed. The standby 5Vs voltage is not 5V but rather 3.28V. There is a 14V rail as well but that measures ok. I put my volt meter on the 5Vs rail and switch on the 220Vac. I noticed that the 5Vs rail goes to 5.1V and quicky changes to 3 28V and steady.
I unplugged the main board and ccfl lamp wires and tested the power supply separate from the tv without load and put a 470 ohm resistor to the stby rail to force the tv on.

                          Hi,
Have a Macbook A2179 with liquid damage. Customer showed it some shop which has done an ultrasonic cleaning of the board.
The board pulls 0V but doesnt turn on. No Fan SPIN. NOT IN DFU.

I checked the Power Sequences below and found this -

Once a valid external power source (Charger or battery) is connected, the following rails will come online.
PPBUS_G3H: Normal voltage is ~12.6v on the charger with the battery disconnected. Produced from the ISL9240 (U7000, which uses PPDCIN_G3H as its VIN.

Weird behavior on 3.3V rail of a CORSAIR CX600
                          by bimole
                          Hi,

A colleague gave me an apparently ill CORSAIR CX600.
He told me that he heard a banging noise, and smelt the magic smoke.
After tearing down the PSU, no burnt component, everything seems OK, but the PSU often refuses to stay ON. When shorting PS_ON to GND, the fan spins a bit a finally stops. No output voltages.

I tried to treat some apparently bad solder joins and finally it seems to work OK... on the 12V and 5V rails!
It's another story on the 3.3V rail...

I have some devices to test deeply PSUs (scope, AC source, electronic load)...

                          Hi all,

I have a Lenovo Yoga 13 Panasonic here, when powered
                          • both fans spins (the sconds starts with a bit of a delay), no image neither on HDMI nor the display
                          • most voltage rails seem OK (see image below, red labels)
                          • resistnace to ground mostly seem OK as well (blue labels)
the only suspicious is the 0.0V rail (2nd from left, top row)
                          • the resistance to ground is rather low (1.9ohm)
                          • when injecting the voltage (1V), it consumes around 200mA, seems OK to me (?)
also tried new BIOS, no change
I can't find a schematics for the board - can some of you gurus look at the voltages?...

                          by SarcasticOP
I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
                          • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
                            • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
                          • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
                            • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.
                          • PPVRTC_G3H (3.3V)
