If I am understanding correctly, then I think the issue may be something else since I can get it to boot, just stuck at 5v
If I could just get the port to work for HDMI out and data transfer, I would be satisfied with that....

Device started not charging and was stuck at 5v for charging. I had two donor boards that I had not removed the CD3217 chips off of, tried replacing with both boards, making sure to match each one to the side it came off of, and no luck. PP1V8_UPC_XA_LDO_CORE on C3105 reads 0.503 and PP3V3_UPC_XA_LDO on C3108 reads 0.492 with similar readings on C3208 and C3205 for the matching line names.
EDIT: These reading are using diode more....

Can I hook up an A2289's battery connector on the motherboard to a DCPS and power it that way?
Hey!
I have a Macbook with bad USB-C ports and after replacing the CD3217, the issue still persists. I need to back up 42000 photos to the cloud, and was wondering if I can wire up the benchtop power supply and get ut running well enough to get the data transferred or if that little ribbon that transfers the battery data will cause an issue.
Thanks in advance

Replaced the glass IC on a Series X, Pin 13 in now OL.
Hello!
I am replacing the booster IC (glass IC on the other side of the HDMI port) and I had to use a bypass chip I from Sourcely. I got everything set up and resolved the issue I was having from that (different line was OL) but now I am contending with this one. Is there something I can do to restore the signal?
Attached is a photo with the pad in question that is supposed to supply the signal to pin 13 on the HDMI port. Tweezers where I am pointing to.

So before I did that, I rechecked it since the last post told me to disconnect the battery, and when I took it at 12v, there was no battery attached. I re-did the check with the battery attached, and I got 12.72 on one side, and 12.73 on the other. Should I proceed with the recommended steps above or look somewhere else due to the change in reading with the battery attached?...

It sits around here, the lowest is .3a with a one-time high of .601a.
EDIT: This is using a 140w Apple adapter with a 240w USB-C to USB-C cable.

General question about MacBook power rails for repair.
I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?

PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)

This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.

PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)

This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working...

I am looking for PPBUS_G3H in the net names and I do not find it. Is there a different net name to look for?

Dell Latitude 3500 not charging
Greetings,
I am working on a Bolt-L UMA MB 17938-1 board for a Dell Latitude 3500 and it is not charging. Plugging in the barrel jack and USB-C both results in about a .1a draw at 20v. I probed around and checked every capacitor I could find, as well as the inductors, and I got no shorts, so I checked to see if anything was happening under the thermal camera when plugged in and I see a slight bit of heat being generated by the Intersil 9538H IC, which appears to connect the battery to the charging line, but I may be wrong about that, I am not very strong on reading schematics, I mostly...

iPad Pro 12.9 (6th Gen) screen shuts off after unplugging device
Greetings,
I have an iPad Pro 12.9" 6th gen tablet that had a screen replaced about 10 months ago at a repair shop and last week the screen went blank during use. The device was still on, notifications played sound for example. I have replaced the screen twice, both screens are working until I unplug it, at which point I can see that screen is on but is all black. If I press the power button, the backlight goes off, and when I press it again, the image appears for half a second and then the screen goes back to being black but on. This issue is not present at all when the iPad...

Short on PP_VDD_MAIN on iPhone 12, disappears when I split the boards.
Hello Wise Ones,
I am working on an iPhone 12 that fell into a lake and has a short to the main power rail. I do a general look over the board and see no obvious physical issues such as burned-out caps or a split between the boards and the interposer. I separated the top board and the short seemed to disappear. I then checked every test point that I could and they are all not showing a short at all, even the spot where I initially tested. I assumed that something was causing a bridge in the interposer so I removed all the old solder, reapplied some new solder, and sandwiched the boards...

Ok, it appears that the short was removed when I removed the Lenovo IT8227E-192 chip. I saw there was a resistor with a short on both sides of PR127 (+3VL and DCIN_ATTACHED_EC) and DCIN_ATTACHED_EC was connected to the Lenovo IT8227E-192 chip. I removed it and all the shorts went away, I put it back and the shorts returned.
Since it does appear that this is the issue, can I replace the chip with a new one with no issues or will it need to be programmed first?...

Lenovo Legion 5 15ACH6H with possible short on +3VL.
Hello!
I am working on a Lenovo Legion 5 15ACH6H that will not take power when connected to the charger and will not turn on. The device was left in a car overnight when it got cold outside and no longer powers on. Inside the device was relatively clean and dust-free, and it did not have any immediate signs of liquid damage.
The boardview files are available over at https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubleshooting-hardware-devices-and-electronics-theory/troubleshooting-laptops-tablets-and-mobile-devices/100124-lenovo-legion-5-15ach6h-boot-problem. I am not sure...Last edited by Vesko356; 01-13-2024, 10:54 AM. Reason: Attached schematic and boardview removed and replaced with link

Seeking Guidance on Motherboard Diagnostics
Hello everyone!
I hope this is the correct place to post this, if not please let me know and I will post in the appropriate location.
I'm venturing into the intricate world of board repair within electronics, and I'm reaching out to this community for some guidance and shared wisdom. I have tried to do some research myself and find this information on my own, but I don't know what I don't know, and that is really starting to become an insurmountable issue that I cannot overcome. The only person I had nearby that I could turn to passed away recently so I do not have anyone...

Hello!
My name is Matthew and I am relatively new to the world of board-level repairs. I have been in the repair industry for over 15 years, but I have been a parts replacement guy. I recently inherited a good amount of equipment so I have spent the last several months trying to learn about board-level repairs. Looking to get as much information as I can so that one day I might be able to help the next round of people looking to get into this field for either a hobby or a career.
