Power supply build quality pictorial.closed.use part 2

Figured maybe this would be a good idea for a thread... if it isn't already... Post up some top-down views of common PSU's, for visual build quality inspection. A lot can be said just by the size of the heatsinks, etc... I'll start...

    Antec SL300S 300W ATX12v PSU

    Sparkle ATX-300GT 300w ATX12v PSU

    L&C VT-250ATX 250w ATX (no 12v header)

mod comment : this is a good idea, pics only please post your comments elsewhere.

    Codegen 200C (AT 200W):

EuroCase 300XX (ATX 350W - no, that's not a typo, that was on the sticker):

    Meico MPS-8804 (ATX 230W - unknown OEM):

Frontier MPS-8831 (ATX 200W - same crap as Meico above):

DTK PTP-2007 (ATX 200W - looks very good, Macron Power OEM):

SkyHawk SH250A8 (ATX 250W - has crappy aux psu, only good for testing)

I must apologize for the quality of these pics, I don't have a digital camera except the Intel webcam I used

1.5 year old 530W Fortron-Source FSP530-60GNA. All Teapo caps from the huge 1200uf 200v main filters and 6800uf 16v output filters to the tiny ones in the fan controller.

              Hey japlytic.

I have had a Topfield TFPVR5000t since March04. (The Toppy is the best toy EVER, IMHO)
What is your opinion of the PSU and the caps on it, and the caps on the main board for that matter?
I notice alot of them are "Sam Young", while the big one is a "Sam Wha".

I open it up regularly for HD removal/quick-transfer (I've got a WD250 in it) and do a quick visual inspection of the caps each time, just for safe measure.

I had mine since early 2005. Topfield must have later gone onto the cheaper Samxon capacitors for the mainboard, compared to your earlier one. The components in the power supply were quite decently sized, and has been fine for over a year, despite running a little hot.

Here are some pictures from a Meiji Power unit in my computer:

Maxpower/Everpower/Soyo/Key Mouse, 300W, 190W combined power, +5V 30A, +12V 12A, +3.3V 14A. PSU met its combined and total power ratings during 10-minute tests, but 30A diode was paralleled to original 30A for +5V rail, just in case (circuit board had empty spot for this). EMI filter added to make AM radio and broadcast TV bearable.

                                      Dell/Delta 200W, 135W combined power, +5V 22A, +12V 10A, +3.3V 14A

                                      Delta 300W, 245W combined power, +5V 28A, +12V 13A, +3.3V 32A

250W Channel Well CWT-250ATX, approximately 12 years old. This PSU is so old, the 92mm fan blows into the computer case instead of into the PSU.

Primary caps are 470uf Matsushita, secondary side is a forest of Fuhjyyu... not one appears bad. This PSU was in regular use up until a month ago.
