    Success!

    SUCCESS!

It turned out that there were two problems The first was another solder blob shorting the 12v rail. The second was an incompatible transformer. I replaced it with another 35 size from another dead PSU. Put it on the tester and it fired right up. The 12v was a little high at 12.6, probably due to not having much load, but all the other rails looked fine.

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

        Congratulations! Well done!

I have never replaced transformer or switching transistors in a power supply.. Maybe one day I will find the courage and try it.

Here is how you change the text size. I'll just stick with my "C H PC Power MOD-400" Label

More official-looking model number, maybe rpm400atx (rexpower modded 400w atx)Not to be confused with diablotek rpm series

That 12v rail is going to be fine if you use the power supply in a Pentium 4 or anything newer than that. Just don't try it on an AXP.

Oh, What? That's why I beefed up the 5v rail so much, so it could handle systems that use it for CPU power. Oh well...

If it's already at 12.6 while the other rails are reading normal, think of what would happen when you load up the 5v rail only. Most parts will handle up to 15 volts, but don't trust ALL of them to be able to do so.

I did another run on the tester, and what I failed to notice last time is that, although this is a single rail PSU, the tester shows 12.3v on 12v1 and the 12.6v is on 12v2, so I'm begining to think it might be the 12v2 meter in the tester. The 5 and 3.3v rails showed 5.1 and 3.3v respectively.

At 12.3 it's well in spec. Drop it into a spare computer and see how it does. Use a regular multimeter to read the rails.

                        Unfortunately, I don't have a spare PC. That's why I'm building a load tester.

There are PLENTY of them here!

After all that it's still only 200W! If I attempt to pull any more than 10A from the 5 and 3.3v rails and 5A from the 12v, the OPP shuts it off!

Congratulations. It seems I have the very same power supply. it succumbed to a dead short in a HDD and will now only give five volts. Poking my MM in the CEF02NG transistor doesn't show any life. Could it be as simple as replacing that?

Try going a bit lighter on the 5v/3.3v and heavier on the 12v.

Then trace the OPP line and reconfigure it. It uses a SG6105, doesn't it?

Are you sure it is the OPP that is shutting it down and not something else?

For example, check all the voltages seconds before it stops working. It might be UVP/OVP.

Thats what I was thinking, maybe he was crossloading it by putting too high of a load on the 5v/3.3v and not enough on the 12v.

No chance it's UVP/OVP, they are set to such obscene values that they basically don't exist.

Hello guys. I have a problem with a PNY XLR8 GAMING RTX3090 graphics card. The problem is that it displays and works fine, but the fans don't spin at all. The problem occurred when someone else removed the fans in order to clean it and broke one of the fan connectors. He replaced it himself and after that, it wasn't working anymore. I guess he damaged something else in the process. What i have done so far: I found 2 capacitors next to the connector that were in a bad shape, he must have touched them with his tools - they weren't shorted, but i replaced them with similar ones from a similar card....

I know this will be an elementary little project for most if not all of you, but I thought I would write a post and get put on track, rather than bumbling my way through it with all kinds of trials and errors.

I REALLY would appreciate y'alls help.

This is the problem - My wife and I purchased a big ol Victorian/Colonial House in NYC two years ago. The kitchen is surrounded on 3 sides by exterior walls, there is also a 1/4 of the kitchen floor (ceramic tiles) that has a crawl space underneath, and the kitchen gets FREEZING cold...

My laptop started having a really strange problem....
When I turn it on the fans start working at a crazy rate and with random breaks...
They can work for say 10 seconds and stop for 2 seconds and then turn on again for 5 etc...
And it's from 0 to 100%. I tried to install AIDA and did the processor chip test and the graphics did not exceed 70 degrees and the fans were not even close to working at the power they work randomly.

                                            Hello,

My Dell Precision 5530 turned off suddenly when I was running Matlab and wouldn't turn on, show any lights, fans, and/or any signs of activity at all. I opened the case, removed the battery and looked at the board with a thermal camera while the AC adapter was connected. I saw that PU1252 was >120C so figured the chip had died on me Got the part number off the attached schematic (see Mouser link below) and replaced the chip. After replacing the chip the board (connected to AC adapter) was able to briefly power on, spin the fans a little bit, and turn on the front led lights....

Spectre X360 DAX38CMBAG0 - overheating fans not spinning

                                            Hello all

Got this Spectre with an overheating problem.
I verified that the fans start briefly during power up, but never turn on again,
even when stress testing the machine and CPU at 100°C fans dont spin

                                            Ive measured and I have 5V, 3.3v and 3rd pin 0.
When fans spin during start up, the signal at 0v is at 1.6v.

Probably its Fan2Sig pin and 3.3V is PWM, not sure

Question is , how to fix?
I think these signals come from ITE controller am I right?
                                            Should I bother replacing it?

                                            Thanks...
