    Re: Rexpower PL-400 rebuild

You didnt overrate it enough. Turn it into an "okia 900w" lol.

But seriously, whats with the 10a 12v rail, you need to improve that.

      Re: Rexpower PL-400 rebuild

The 12V diode pack is actually rated for 30A, so it could probably do more.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

I think it could do ~20A.

OK. I powered it on. 5vsb came right up at 5.06v, however, I put it on a PSU tester and nothing happened, no power on, but thankfully, no explosions either.

                  Re: Rexpower PL-400 rebuild

Since 5vsb is there, see if there is some voltage on the PS-ON signal. There should be close to 5v I think.
Check for short circuit on all of the rails to ground as well. If none, check for short circuit between the rails themselves.
Also, did you replace the original 12v fast rectifier with a schottky? That could certainly be it.
Lastly, the PSU tester may not be providing a big enough load. If you have an old computer you don't care about or any hardware you don't care about, attach it to the PSU to give it a better load.

                    Re: Rexpower PL-400 rebuild

PS-on is 4.72v. I replaced the 12v fast recovery with an ultrafast recovery. It looks like the 5 and 12v rails are shorted both to ground and to each other. The 3.3v rail shows about 10 ohms to ground. Why would both be shorted??

OK. I found a solder blod shorting the 5vsb with another trace. I removed that and my DMM no longer shews the 5v as being shorted to ground. I'll have to look at the 12v some more when I get home from work.

Did you replace the primary transformer with a different one? I don't know why, but sometimes they may be pin compatable but it will not work in other power supplies. Have this problem with a "35" sized transformer out of a keerda. Will not work in my Yue-Lin or my Golden Tiger. Golden Tiger's works in the Yue-Lin though and vice versa.

Yes, I did swap the primary transformer as the orignal was only a size 33.

Yes, possibly your rectifier was gone.

Also, it looks like you used thermal compound between the diodes/pads and pads/heatsinks - this is unnecessary. Moreover if the thermal compound is conductive, this could be the problem as well.

you should use either real non-conductive thermal pads or nothing at all - depends how the psu was designed.

Hello guys. I have a problem with a PNY XLR8 GAMING RTX3090 graphics card. The problem is that it displays and works fine, but the fans don't spin at all. The problem occurred when someone else removed the fans in order to clean it and broke one of the fan connectors. He replaced it himself and after that, it wasn't working anymore. I guess he damaged something else in the process. What i have done so far: I found 2 capacitors next to the connector that were in a bad shape, he must have touched them with his tools - they weren't shorted, but i replaced them with similar ones from a similar card....

I know this will be an elementary little project for most if not all of you, but I thought I would write a post and get put on track, rather than bumbling my way through it with all kinds of trials and errors.

I REALLY would appreciate y'alls help.

This is the problem - My wife and I purchased a big ol Victorian/Colonial House in NYC two years ago. The kitchen is surrounded on 3 sides by exterior walls, there is also a 1/4 of the kitchen floor (ceramic tiles) that has a crawl space underneath, and the kitchen gets FREEZING cold...

My laptop started having a really strange problem....
When I turn it on the fans start working at a crazy rate and with random breaks...
They can work for say 10 seconds and stop for 2 seconds and then turn on again for 5 etc...
And it's from 0 to 100%. I tried to install AIDA and did the processor chip test and the graphics did not exceed 70 degrees and the fans were not even close to working at the power they work randomly.

                                            Hello,

My Dell Precision 5530 turned off suddenly when I was running Matlab and wouldn't turn on, show any lights, fans, and/or any signs of activity at all. I opened the case, removed the battery and looked at the board with a thermal camera while the AC adapter was connected. I saw that PU1252 was >120C so figured the chip had died on me Got the part number off the attached schematic (see Mouser link below) and replaced the chip. After replacing the chip the board (connected to AC adapter) was able to briefly power on, spin the fans a little bit, and turn on the front led lights....

Spectre X360 DAX38CMBAG0 - overheating fans not spinning

                                            Hello all

Got this Spectre with an overheating problem.
I verified that the fans start briefly during power up, but never turn on again,
even when stress testing the machine and CPU at 100°C fans dont spin

                                            Ive measured and I have 5V, 3.3v and 3rd pin 0.
When fans spin during start up, the signal at 0v is at 1.6v.

Probably its Fan2Sig pin and 3.3V is PWM, not sure

Question is , how to fix?
I think these signals come from ITE controller am I right?
                                            Should I bother replacing it?

                                            Thanks...
