    Dell E5470 custom bios issue

    Hi

I have a Dell E5470. I am trying to re install windows 10. I have wiped the partitions on hard drive and ran the setup. When i get to the network selection screen there is no option bypass where you normally see it down in bottom left of screen.
When you connect to wifi it goes to a custom screen that requests logging into a specific user account on a server.
It's not getting this info from the hard drive as it's wiped. I have read the bios file and attached.
Searching the bios file in hex editor results in showing a reference to the company website in the bios bin file.

I was hoping someone with the correct knowledge can remoce what ever it is thats causing it to force windows install down this path instead of a normal install.
Please advise if you need further details.

Any information on this would be appreciated

    Thanks in advance

Backup fault. Your bios region's empty.

Ok... i will try re read the bios

Update: i am using the RT809F programmer, but its displaying message that the chip ID does not match
the bios chips is Winbond 25Q128FVSQ But this is not in the list of known chips. Autodetech sees it as a cypruss
Not sure what all this means
      Any help appreciated

the re-read and verify went without any errors but i will try again, I did notice the size of the bin file at 16mb but the zipped file was only 52kb which seemed a bit low...is there a option to upload the full bin file ?

          Thanks

Try manual chip selection. Do not select auto-detection.

Re: Dell E5470 custom bios issue

Appreciate your help hoaca, i am using the software that came with the programmer its not very good to be honest. I cant see the actual chip listed from the available chip options.

Can you recommend a good programming software alternative
I am using a version of ifix RT809 even the latest version of tis software does not have my chip listed, it autodetects as a cypruss 25Q128BVSQ

the actual print on the bios chip is 25Q128FVSQ

I have re read the chip 3 times and its verified fine each time

I have renamed the bin file to zip instead of compressing it as it seems to be very small when compressed

                Hope its intact this time

                Thanks again

                  Read about Windows autopilot.

And then install either Windows home or Linux

Your bios is not custom, don't waste time on that

Re: Dell E5470 custom bios issue

                    Hi Rethorical

Never used Autopilot, but have installed windows on lots of systems and never seen this issue before. So it's stumped me. See attached screen shots showing the windows installer screen that it lands on during install after i select keyboard layout etc...
There is no option to create a local account and the "I dont have internet" option is also missing from the account screen.
It cant be getting the company name from the hard drive because it's been cleaned with diskpart prior to install.
That led me to suspect the bios. So i dumped the bios file and searched for the same company name inside the bin file and found the company name located in the bin file.

I can't find anything online about this so was hoping it could simply be cleaned from the bios file to allow me to do a standard windows install

Thanks again for your reply, and further advice welcome

                        Hi M8

yes, i have been using the clip. not had any issues with it before, but obviously its not working if even the latest read is corrupt. It verified 3 times though.

I will now de solder the chip and read it that way

                        Thanks for your input

                        appreciated.

Any thoughts on the bios containing this company name which is the same name as th login its trying to use at first log in on clean install ?

As far as i can tell its just part of a domain ,AMT settings are where its stored. I asked you for your service tag, with that we can look at your laptop configuration. Depending on the configuration you can use another dump with clean ME firmware

I would erase the code from the bios dump and see what happens, just out of curiosity
I don't provide help for people using CH341A and a clip.

Re: Dell E5470 custom bios issue

Things I have done to try to remove autopilot, the exact same thing you have right now (on lenovo).
New me + main bios, new SN and motherboard SN, new network mac, new windows installer and maybe something else. Nothing helped. Only thing I did not do, which might help, was to replace TPM chip.

As I said, install windows HOME not PRO. In that case, windows will not check if autopilot is installed because autopilot is not a part of windows home.

But if you do find a solution for this, I am all ears. Keeping clear from PRO is just a workaround sadly.

Autopilot is quite a recent thing. It was first implemented last year I think. And first autopilot laptops ended up in my hand at the end of last year I think. And some companies do unenroll from autopilot but others either forget or are too lazy to do it. Sadly microsoft has not implemented any way to unenroll for 3rd party users.

It's around 3/4 years old so i don't think its autopilot.

It does allow booting into the AMT setting menu, by pressing CTRL P at first boot...but thats password protected also, so cant change or even browse anythng in there.

See attached fresh bios dump with the chip desoldered.

                                      compressed zip file

Thanks again for advice on this

                                          Hi everyone,

I'm working on a Dell G15 5515 (Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3050 Ti) and recently installed a compatible 4-zone RGB keyboard and controller (for Dell G15 5510/5511/5515 models). While the keyboard functions for typing, the RGB lighting is not detected by Alienware Command Center (AWCC), which displays “No AlienFX devices found.”

                                          What I've Tried So Far:
                                          • Reseated the cables.
                                          • Reinstalled AWCC and AlienFX services.
                                          • Attempted BIOS downgrade but no improvement.
                                          • Inspected ribbon cables for damage.
                                          • Explored the possibility of BIOS or

Hi, I hope some one has some advice for me. I searched the forums but didn't see anything relevant. I acquired two identical Dell 9010 Mid Tower computers from a business office upgrade (they were going to throw them out). Both of them have the same motherboard (00F82W). One of them works flawlessly. The other one had a corrupted BIOS. I tried flashing numerous main BIOS and EC files from the internet, but none of them worked. I decided to copy the main BIOS and EC from the working 9010 computer and successfully flashed the corrupted BIOS. This got the computer able to boot again and run norm...

                                          Hey everyone,

I recently bought a Dell G15 5515 with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H and 3060 RTX. The BIOS chip on it was dead, and my hardware guy replaced the chip. After that, everything was working fine.

The BIOS is currently at version 1.22.1, and I wanted to update it. I downloaded the latest BIOS version from Dell Support using my ST: FQZMYJ3, but when I tried to run it, it says "unsupported system." I asked my tech guy what he did, and he said he took the chip from another board and flashed it onto mine.

When I check the BIOS using the F12 menu Flash...

                                          Hi,

Could someone help trying to unlock this BIOS, seems that Dell have changed the layout of new Dell Pro 8FC8 bioses from checking HXD - 4000 bits do not need changing, only 2000. However after FF the section starting from '01000' upto 2000 bits and then soldering the chip back it seems that the microchip on the motherboard is recovering the bios back to original settings after first boot. Has anyone found a way to crack this extra layer of security Dell have implemented? Seems both HP and Dell have upped bios security to match Lenovo by implementing extra measures on a separate...

                                          by Sathsul
So, i kinda spend significant ammount of the last couple of days trying to flash a new bios, and or unlocking the current bios password with little to no results.
The whole thing started with it being the 8fc8 bios, i found the tools to unlock that but i needed a bios dump. So i pursued that, im at a point where i dessoudered the chip, and succesfully soudered it to the ch341, dumped whatever was on it.
However, the tools supposed to unlock the 8fc8 say that there is no 8fc8 hex inside. And when i followed diffrent tutorials to just flash a new bios onto the chip i got stuck on the...
