 Worked for me!

Thank you Knucklegrumble, I just followed EXACTLY what you described and fixed my poor Lenovo P51.

For the community reference I used a CH341A with NeoProgrammer 2.1.0.19, and a IC clamp (didn't remove the IC from the board as recommended in some articles).

My laptop now is not posting at all
Just power led with blank screen
 I don't know what happened
Tried to reflash the bios the same result
Even tried the original bios file which was created before it didn't work.

Can the bios chip burned out?
 Is it possible?
It is still accepting flash and the programmer still detecting the chip.

Any idea or suggestions? Plz ….Comment

Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal

Check if you didn't remove any component around bios chip by mistake while soldering/desoldering bios chip. Leave laptop on for a long time, from my experience it take between 1 to 2 mins to apply new settings from bios, you'll see keyboard leds flashing few times. I removed SVP from E490 with same method I created your patched bios, it should work. Thanks for your efforts

I used the clip with ch341a programmer.

I believe if the chip burned it will not accept programming or even the programmer detect the chip.

It is accepting the flash and verify it successfully with no issue.

Anyway i will check the area around the chip as you said. And will update you back.

 Thanks broComment

Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal

I had some troubles with Macronix chipsets, even programmer detected it and wrote it with no errors laptop didn't start. I replaced with Winbond and laptop started.I didn’t desolder the chip
I used the clip with ch341a programmer.

 Thanks bro
I see that your laptop can use both chipsets, try change it with W25Q128 if you have MX25L128
Also I gave up using clips because it can damage components placed near bios chipset and always desolder bios chipsets, there are some "pogo pins" i saw some users here use it and it's better than clips.Last edited by volinakis; 03-15-2023, 02:57 AM.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal

Hi, just wanted to say big thanks for the script and guide.

I succesfully managed to remove the Supervisor BIOS password on my T480.
For future reference, my machine is T480, type 20L6-SD8Q0M, June 2019, BIOS version 1.24.

Keep in mind you need to desolder the U49 chip (W25Q128JVS), it's located roughly between the RAM slot and where the discrete GPU would be. At first I made a mistake and desoldered U15 (near the CMOS battery) and was wondering why the patcher wouldn't work hehe.
I used RaspberryPi 4B and flashrom to read and write the binaries, but ran the patcher script on my Win 10 laptop.

 Anyway, thanks again!Comment

			by macabookHello everyone,

I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
🧩 Initial Issue- Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight

			by piratiHello everyone,

I recently bought a non-working Asus Zenbook Pro Duo OLED UX8402ZA that was listed for parts only. The seller mentioned that it had no display output but that the charging lights worked.

When the laptop arrived (without a charger and SSD), I connected a charger and confirmed with a multimeter that it was charging the battery. However, when I tried to power it on, only the backlight of the secondary display came on. There was no image, and it didn’t boot into the BIOS.

I decided to try flashing a new BIOS, but since I didn’t want to desolder...-

by jbonavitaHi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
 Some issues
 A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

 Things I tried

1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...-

by zeniusHello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...-
