That Thermaltake 430W PSU does look a little on the cheap side, but better than a L&C. Teapos are fine in a PSU, and I haven't seen a CapXon cap fail yet in a PSU.

New supply is installed and the voltage numbers look almost exactly like the Antec power supply's numbers.
But no wierd noise.
The "2.5v is too higher" message still comes up when enabled. It's obvious that it's not the fault of the power supply.
Here's a question: When you use a new style supply to power a slightly older board could it cause an unexpected voltage levels? I noticed that the ATX standard developed to the point where a certain wire is no longer required (it was dropped from the ATX spec).

I've seen some new power supplies missing IIRC the white +5VSB wire on the ATX connector. I have four ATX power supplies like that, and the missing 5VSB wire won't hurt the motherboard at all. They didn't damage my old trusty AOpen AX6BC Slot 1 motherboard (that board came stock with United Chemi-Con caps, wow for a board made in 1999!Originally posted by gastorgrab ).

freshly recapped vp6 with tc's modded bios.

Those CPU coolers I mentioned from computergate are $7.95 each or $7.75 each for two or more. They have to be better than the stock Intel heatsinks with the green clips. And I agree, the VIA monitor abnormal voltage warning seems irrelevant and/or wrong.Comment

I think -5v is only used by some ISA cards (and apparently not many even of those). It's in the ISA pinout anyway.Comment

My guess it that they didn't have an ISA slot but the board still had a legacy ISA BUS with some chip on it that needed -5v. (Maybe like a sound chip? - Not sure.)

Hi there,
I have an 820-3437 motherboard which does not show any signs of life when using an OEM charger. But the magsafe light comes up when connected using a fake charger. While using a fake charger, the fan spins for may be 10 seconds and stops. Then the loop continues. Almost every power rail is up, but with 0.2-0.3 V drop. But I do not get a display, but sometimes does. While powered using the fake charger, the CPU seems to be burning hot. I got display at about 3 instances with the fake charger.
But with the OEM charger, no signs of life.

This started a few days ago and does this about every 8 hours
After it does this it goes back to normal no bad battery icon and no weird sounds and it goes to battery backup mode so I am not sure what is going on with this battery backup
The battery backup is about 3 or 4 years old
Dose anyone have any idea on how to troubleshoot this issue I have never had a battery backup do this kind-a thing before so I am not sure exactly how to troubleshoot it and where to start -
So, I have a really bizarre issue that I'm struggling to identify the cause of. Working on an 820-02020 board with some bizarre keyboard/input-source character mapping. My suspicion is a possible damaged SPI ROM (U1970), perhaps, but I'm really not sure in this case:
1. The issue is pretty weird, but when installing MacOS, I noticed my WiFi password did not work. I quickly realized the special characters (!@#$%^& etc) were not mapping correctly.

Hi, I've just repaired acer nitro an515-55 with specs:
i7-10750h, rtx2060.
Laptop had damaged cpu and after replacement came back to life but i have weird problem with this machine.
After night or 2-3hours on first startup laptop shows acer logo, windows circle for second and then screen goes blank - machin stays on but i need to turn it off by holding power, on next startup laptop working just fine.
i've tried different bios, different vbios and same behaviour - clean windows install too.
