    W241D (W240D) flickering Problem

I got the same problem like in this video

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YN12vGegYmY

Its the gm5868H-LF processor on the motherboard, which runs hot.
I already renewed all caps on the PSU.

Seems a lot got the same problem, but i donยดt think its a solution to install a fan, cuz i think the problem is getting worse-

Maybe someone know that issue and can help me here.

    Greetings from Austria.

It's interesting to see that Hyundai changed the imaging processor in the latest revision which I own (EV3.84, see photo).

Are you really sure that the above mentioned processor runs hot? I would rather expect one of the power transistors to run too hot.

Maybe a few heat sinks would solve the problem.

By the way, which capacitors did you use to replace the old "JH" (Jianghai) capacitors?

      Re: W241D (W240D) flickering Problem

instead of the JH i actually use YAGEO.
yep i am sure it is the imaging processor.
i seperated the PSU from the MoBo and blow against the IP.
actually i put a heatsink on the chip which also "solved" the problem.

of course the power transistor gets hot, but the image processor too

did u also got problems with your hyundai screen?
till now i donยดt know whats the difference between the 241D and the 240W?

        Re: W241D (W240D) flickering Problem

Fortunately, my Hyundai still works fine, even after three and a half years daily use .

The only flaw is the "vertical color lines" error which occurs very rarely when switching on the monitor. It seems to be quite normal for this monitor.

The difference between the W240D and the W241D is the TFT panel. Whereas the first mentioned only uses a more ore less bad TN panel, the W241D has a very good S-PVA panel by Samsung.

Looking at the video board, it looks like the two regulator ICs (they have 3 legs with big tab on one side) have been running hot, you can see the board in that area has brownish color. You should check the value & ESR of those 3 caps to the left and two caps to the right of those two regulators.
Also take the reading of each pin of the regulator, black probe on the chassis and red probe on each pin and report the readings. If the caps do not filter out the AC ripple properly and let it running through the circuits, it can cause over heating problem.

            Re: W241D (W240D) flickering Problem

how do i know what panel i got inside of the screen?
(there is only one sticker at the back of the monitor which says W241D)
every other part is described with the W240D.

@budm: thanks, but as u can see the video board from nname got the same brownish color near the regulator ICยดs... but iยดll check that.

@nname: did u changed the caps on your video board? as i wrote in the first post i already changed the caps on the psu, but i guess i should do the same with the 6 caps on the video board. (i just saw that one domed at the bottom... could that be the problem!?)

              @ storexxm:

If the sticker on the back of the casing says "W241D", you have the W241D . Some PCB stickers and even the OSD nevertheless say "W240D" because they were also used in the TN panel model. Hyundai just did not change this details.

All caps in my monitor are still original.

the only cap i didnยดt change is the big one on the PSU.. or could it be a transformator..?

In your pic of the logic ("video") board, the G-Luxon capacitor with the bung pushed out is likely bad. Replace that and see what happens.

already changed them with caps with more capacity and volt...
                    problem is the same...

could it be a other component part ?
just curious but could it be the t-con board that the lcd processor runยดs hot?
its such a common problem but i am puzzled there is no solution.

and i think itยดs not a real fix to put a heatsink on the chip ...

i am not sure but i think the flickering is getting lower when i turn the brightness and contrast down...

could it be the big cap on the PSU (i never saw a instruction to change it just on purpose)

If the big capacitor was faulty, the whole monitor wouldn't work โ€” it should be all right.

So if you already replaced all G-Luxon caps on the video board, maybe the ESR of the new caps is still too high for the circuit?

Please compare the data sheet of the original capacitors with that of your replacements.

instead of the (maybe dead) cap i used a 35V 470ยต from the PSU (which was not domed)
is it also very important to use low ESR caps for the PSU (i just bought them @ conrad... guess u know that shop )
could it be a problem when i use higher voltage and higher capacity instead of the old caps?

i read this -> https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1458 -> but my technical know how and english is too bad that i get the information about the ESR in the given data sheet ;(

The capacity of the replacement caps should be as high as of the originals. A higher or lower value can affect functionality negatively. A higher proof voltage is okay (and even better).

So you should try to use more suitable replacement caps. Because I didn't find any data sheets for Yageo caps (which I only found at Conrad ), I cannot tell you if they are suitable for high ripple currents that are common at PSU circuits. They even can go bad after a few days/weeks.

You can find really good explanations of "low ESR" and much more in German at the Elko-Verkauf website.

i found this pdf... think there are the specs. of the caps.

but as i understand it correctly, the ESR is only important for the lifetime...
but the monitor doest work correctly at all... it might not be a long term solution if i take any kind of cap, but it should work anyway...

                            is my idea correct ?
because its the SAME issue, no matter which caps i use

what do u think about budm`s idea ? shall i change the silver small caps too....?

I dont think said which series of Yageo caps you bought as replacements so we cant check them on the datasheet.
You never posted the results of the test Budm suggested on the Voltage regulators.

If the caps are not good enough the voltage at the regulators may be incorrect causing them to overheat.
If the voltage at the regulators is incorrect the voltage supplied to the main processor may be incorrect causing it to overheat.

i canยดt believe that the old "broken" caps can produce the same error like the new ones !?
the caps have more uF and more voltage.. so there should be no problem...

I think i made a mistake, the components that i replaced are voltage regulators not LDO. Right?

I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.

In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.
                                          1. Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again.
                                          2. Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait about 10-20 seconds and turn it on again to solve.
                                          3. Problem: TV shuts down
                                          ...

The laptop was turned off because the MOSFET was not transmitting voltage. After checking it turned out that the gate pin on the MOSFET was the problem, because it was producing an inappropriate voltage. and it was discovered that the problem was with the Think engine, so I decided to reprint each pin, and finally the mosfet could work properly. However, there is another problem, even though the voltage has been supplied to the laptop, it still won't turn on, there isn't even an LED indicator. After double...

ACER BM320 Monitor - Horizonal Flickering Lines After a While
                                          by reessi
                                          Hello,

The monitor started off showing flickering thin (1 pixel) lines horizontally every say 3mm..

They are black on the right and gradually fade to nothing on the far left.
They start either after 5 mins or up to 2 hours after so annoying for testing.
They flicker continuously very fast! With a slight pause milli-second every second.

Initially I cleaned the LVDS cable and connected to the T-Con and then it worked fine for 3 weeks but not sure if this was just co-incidence.

I tested each half by removing the first the left flex from...

Viewsonic VS16217 strange problem - white flickering screen on power up
                                          by domu
As per subject, on power up display shows no image, but white
flickering screen. Strangely, it only happen after power was lost
when it was on. After power returns - white screen only, but if
disconnect power for 12-24 hrs, and connect then again monitor
                                          works normally.

Any clues how to go about it would be greatly appreciated.
