• Re: Cap identification

Thanks for your reply.

The TV set is working perfectly by now and it still has two years warranty, so I won’t modify or measure anything, which would involve desoldering, until it is really necessary.

The caps I want to find out more about are in rather non-critical zones (audio amplifier and some signal processing circuit) — the OEM used at least Samxon GK and Capxon KF + GF capacitors together with one lonely Aishi RR capacitor in the power supply and LED driver section, so for a 240 Euro unit it could be worse.

started a topic Cap identification

Cap identification

Hello everyone!

I found a bunch of these caps in my Sharp LCD TV and would like to know if anyone knows the manufacturer or the brand name.

It says something like "Dum? Con".

I already googled the capacitor series, but only found capacitors of other manufacturers.

Thanks....

Talking about ripple, can you say the overheating problem could be possibly caused by bad capacitors?

@ Mad_Professor:

They're okay if not running too hot, but not qualitative enough to recommend them as replacement capacitors. Furthermore, the CD263 series has a load life of only 1000 hours for cap diameters of <= 8 mm.

As "JH" is a brand of Jianghai, the datasheet should be the following:
They are pretty standard 105 °C capacitors.

You can find the matching Elite datasheet here:...

It must have been fake Fuhjyyu capacitors .

Maybe because the quality of the Fuhjyyus was so bad that all the other capacitors had to stem all the ripple & noise and so were out of spec which caused them to fail?...

The capacity of the replacement caps should be as high as of the originals. A higher or lower value can affect functionality negatively. A higher proof voltage is okay (and even better).

So you should try to use more suitable replacement caps. Because I didn't find any data sheets for Yageo caps (which I only found at Conrad ), I cannot tell you if they are suitable for high ripple currents that are common at PSU circuits. They even can go bad after a few days/weeks.

You can find really good explanations of "low...

If the big capacitor was faulty, the whole monitor wouldn't work — it should be all right.

So if you already replaced all G-Luxon caps on the video board, maybe the ESR of the new caps is still too high for the circuit?

Please compare the data sheet of the original capacitors with that of your replacements.Re: W241D (W240D) flickering Problem

@ storexxm:

If the sticker on the back of the casing says "W241D", you have the W241D . Some PCB stickers and even the OSD nevertheless say "W240D" because they were also used in the TN panel model. Hyundai just did not change this details.

All caps in my monitor are still original.

Fortunately, my Hyundai still works fine, even after three and a half years daily use .

The only flaw is the "vertical color lines" error which occurs very rarely when switching on the monitor. It seems to be quite normal for this monitor.

The difference between the W240D and the W241D is the TFT panel. Whereas the first mentioned only uses a more ore less bad TN panel, the W241D has a very good S-PVA panel by Samsung.

(Bezüglich...

It's interesting to see that Hyundai changed the imaging processor in the latest revision which I own (EV3.84, see photo).

Are you really sure that the above mentioned processor runs hot? I would rather expect one of the power transistors to run too hot.

Maybe a few heat sinks would solve the problem.

By the way, which capacitors did you use to replace the old "JH" (Jianghai) capacitors?...

• Re: Cheap 15" Argos (Pacific) CRT - Surprisingly well made

I'm quite sure the OEM is Orion. The circuit board layout and the serial number stickers look similar to my Orion Combi 3693. In my set there can be found only capacitors by Rubycon and one by Nichicon, by the way.

It's interesting to see that in both cases Orion engaged another CRT manufacturer to label their CRT with the Orion logo.

• Re: Sleeve Bearing: still the quietest

I own three Enermax' Cluster fans that mostly run at 580—650 RPM. Although they are older than one year with spinning at least 10 hours a day, their bearings do not seem to tear at all. Normal sleeve bearnings do clatter after a certain period of time.
