All 4 measure in, and out of circuit. 0.905- 0.907K ohms.

Dunno what to say. 0.970k is a huge difference than 970M! However resistors do not go lower in resistance. Over my whole career repairing chit I came across one resistor that was basically a short, thus lowered the resistance it should have had.
Maybe try a different DMM? Measure out of circuit of course and keep your fingers off.

check out the colours of r69 r70 r73 and r74 they should also be 910 ohms .. white brown brown is 910 ohms .

I, don't know either, I removed all 4, checked them out of circuit. They measure between 0.905K- 0.907K. I will change batteries in DMM. Only thing that I can think is that the colors maybe faded, but you can see in the pics I posted. When I put those colors in a resistor color chart, they come up with 970M. When I see them I see, white, violet, violet, gold as the colors. The violet could be brown I don't know. The board is different than schematics too.We have more than one version. I have two different KA-701 amp with different versions of this board. They seem original, and no one to my knowledge has ever worked on this amp. These resistors are not even on the parts list. They are R7,8,9,10. How can 4 resistors shit the bed, and have the same reading in, and out of circuit. Never saw this either.

I see it on the schematic, I took a picture of the other KA -701 amp I have with the different board. I'll post it here. Tell me what colors you see. I see white brown brown. Gold. The resistor is R 7. I do believe the colors have faded on the one we are working on, and they are brown instead of violet. Check the pictures out, see what you think. Click image for larger version

Sure enough! Looks just like you said to me too. It is a 50 year old amp after all… heat, sunshine can effect colours. In this case I would have gone after the measured value. There was obviously something wrong with the meter or the decode process. Resistors don't short, they go higher in resistance until it opens up.

I'll check my meter as well it is very expensive, but aging. I'll replace batteries first, see if anything changes. Should I replace those resistors? I'll have to order some because, they were not on the parts list.

nah... I wouldn't replace them. I'd replace only if these would be out of tolerance or burnt.

I checked them with another component tester, they test ok, reading of 925.1

I guess, my meter is starting to shit the bed, time for a new one, now on to the small black transistors. I'll start on the Q11 side with Q7, Q5, I f these test good I'm just going to put them back in, instead of replacing, maybe on this side I will replace , just because this is the side that started all this crap in the first place. Thanks Cap

Very funny. My cheap @$$ 13 year old Canadian Tire Auto Ranging DMM I had bought on sale for $20 shit the bed today. I used it in the garage only… who cares… no major loss. Would be much different if my Flukes or Agilent DMM's takes a dump. Then the calibration certificate is another thing. Not so easy here on my bench.

Yea, I'll have to look into a new one now that I don't trust it. $150 Klein 25yrs old. Glad my flukes are ok. Retired 3 yrs ago, will not replace them now. I checked Q5, it shit the bed, so it's replaced, Now on to Q7. I had to take a break this afternoon so I'll get back to it this evening. Sorry about the music in the vid, was louder than I thought.

For a new toy DMM with o'scope and gen, I pulled the trigger on a Owon HDS2202S. Was cheapest on Amazon!? Retired an Extech DMM for garage duty now.
I did a research on that FNIRSI component tester of yours, but I wasn't happy with the result. Specifically its cheating on capacitors ESR. Maybe it is a firmware issue and they fixed it by know, I don't know. The vids I seen were a quite a few months old mostly using firmware 1.0.3. and around there. How do you like it? I am using a Peak Atlas DCA Pro.

This is a new and updated one, it can also update the firmware when avaliable, no pro shit here, only a ten yr hobbiest, retired electrician, Ind, light commercial, ending in residential. Uncles were electrical engineers. It works like a dream, love it, caught alot of shit on this amp so far, just like the resistors. Good enough for me, and what I do.

I was thinking the same thing. I'll probably get another klein. This one still does good for electrical. No need to test for component level. So off it goes. I got my yrs , and Money out of it.

Any auto ranging can be set to not auto range. I want it for the portable oscilloscope and DMM in one and it has dual channels. I don't have a portable oscilloscope, but would come in very handy for my odd ball work from time to time. It's not for my bench, it's for being out.

Yea , all those toys are great to have, always wanted one, but most of that chit is way beyond my scope of expertise. I'm just a hobbiest, with the love for fixing shit.My problem is I have too many expensive hobbies. I got the first 4 small black transistors done 2 were smoked, would even give a reading . I'll do the other 4 tonight, after that all that's left is the diodes. They all checked out in circuit, voltage in one direction OL in the other.
