Replacing FZ78 with a solid capacitor

Can someone tell me what capacitors can I use for replacing the FZ78 (1000uF 6.3V) on my video card (Forsa Nvidia Geforce 9600GT)?
Can I replace them with solid capacitors? If yes what models would you recommend?

    Thanks!

    usually these

    https://www.badcaps.net/store/produc...roducts_id=134

    but tc's out right now

You should have no problem using lytics though

    these should be fine

    https://www.badcaps.net/store/produc...products_id=43

though i'm not sure what height/radius those on your card are. I bet they're under 14mm though

      Hey,
      Thank you for reply but I've said FZ78 (1000uF 6.3V) :p
Anyway I will wait for others tips.

Re: Replacing FZ78 with a solid capacitor

When you replace solid capacitors (polymers) with electrolytic capacitors, it's often recommended to go up a bit in capacity.
Also, for the purpose that capacitor was used, going up in capacity a bit won't cause problems. The capacity needs to be just over a minimum value.

So the 1500uF Rubycon capacitor that he recommended is a very good choice to replace that Sacon FZ.

If you have to get 1000uF 6.3 here's what will work...
...but since you had to be a jerk and didn't enter the country you're in, i can only recommend alternatives for US

          I was thinking to use:
          http://www.ebay.com/itm/5pcs-Solid-C...item231d5391be
          OR this

You kinda seem to forget that Sacon FZs are lytics.. :P
            No need for increased capacitance.

I've attached the datasheet of those junk caps for specs comparison..

No, I knew it's electrolytic. I clarified that through private messages, he contacted me privately.

When this series was made, the specs were more or less in the polymer/solid capacitors range... nowadays those specs are achievable by some electrolytics, though kinda hard at that height...

If you're gonna use fleabay, only ever use sellers egekecu/PCMCS or Audjade. Many others sell fakes.

As for your original question, use http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4-Nichico...item45fdff1b5c to replace the FZs. The slight capacitance drop shouldn't be a problem.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

how about measuring the voltage at the caps you wish to replace?then i can suggest something based on my experience.something you can buy at the badcaps store and skip the ebay minefield.

Re: Replacing FZ78 with a solid capacitor

you can go up or down in cap within reason with polys. Actually i've seen people who replace 1500 with 330 or 560 16v caps on input vrms before with no problem

lytics are another story. Usually same or higher, but within reason

Capacitor detached from PCB – RTX 2070 Super Founders Edition

                          Description:
During maintenance on an RTX 2070 SUPER Founders Edition, I found a capacitor lying on my desk after reassembly.
I did not notice it detaching, so I am unsure of its original location on the PCB.

                          Procedure performed:
                          - Removed backplate
                          - Cleaned heatsink and PCB with isopropyl alcohol + soft ESD brush
                          - Reapplied thermal compound
                          - Reassembled card

                          Observed behavior after reassembly:
                          - GPU powers on and operates normally under...

Replacing electrolytic caps by solid caps on old motherboards
                          by madscientist750
I do have several old pc motherboards which i recapped 10 year ago and some of those caps are bulged now.
I would like to upgrade them using solid capacitors. I do use them for testing and helping some alternative operating systems.
I would like to ask if such an upgrade can be done, what should i have in mind when replacing electrolytic by solid caps and if such thing exist, if there are caps list for old motherboards. I would have to figure out what caps needs each motherboard and then prepare a list to try to ask for them on some electronics stores.

Anyone had a solid polymer capacitor fail for whatever reason?

How do they fail? Do they explode, go open, short out, ?

How about for different reasons: forcing excessive ripple current, overheating, voltage too high, reverse voltage?

Just wondering about the causes for a potential shorted solid polymer capacitor... trying to debug a board that has a ~4Ω "short" on a track... it may or may not be a capacitor but was wondering what if it were...

Dick Smith Q-1760 linear power supply filter capacitor question
                          by Agent24
I have acquired a used Dick Smith Q-1760 power supply - although the OEM is Manson Industrial
It has at least one problem.

The voltage control potentiometer VR2, 50K is faulty - going high resistance / open circuit in the CCW end and leading to the output voltage jumping around.
I have already ordered a replacement potentiometer, so that's not an issue.

Now, I want to replace all three electrolytics on the PCB as they are CapXon and I don't trust them so much, I will replace them with something better while I've got the thing apart anyway.
                          All are CapXon...

If I replace with inferior capacitor, Is it No harm to other IC components at all?
                          by chth96
I replaced some capacitor which is located on optical pickup pcb which is shown in the table below(PCB #2).Because it have been out of order.
Now,It works very well,But I just have found that all caps (6svpc100my and other part number as well) ,which is shown in the table below, has ultra-high ripple current spec.
It is not able to obtain any capacitor which can be a substitute for this ultra-high ripple current nichicon capacitor.
So I replaced it with samxon and rubycon's general capacitor(GP,YXA series).
I know that these capacitor will not last as long as nichicon capacitor...
