    Re: Post your system.......

NOTE: The Radeon HD 6570 does not support crossfire (at least not the one I have). It's installed because I happened to have one, and distributed.net can use multiple GPUs with the OpenCL client. With both GPUs running, I can do a block every six seconds. Oh, and before you say that nVidia cards are better, note that AMD cards run distributed.net faster.
Wow you are still running distributed.net? You just flew past me!..

            My daily use PC:
Core2Duo E7200 @ 3.16GHz - got it for nothing from a pc on the side of the road
Gigabyte G41m-Combo - actually paid $80 for it new
Gigabyte Radeon 4870 - got it for free due to dead fan
            8 GB DDR3 ram @ 1066mhz - paid $45 a stick, the chipset keeps me from reaching 1333
            2x1.5TB Samsung HD154UI Hdd's - i got them second-hand off someone for about $100 a piece a few years ago
a Coolermaster Cosmos - got it for cheap a while back
and a Coolermaster ExtremePower Plus 600W - really quite shitty, amazed it hasnt killed my pc yet

Edit: oh crap, one of those HD154UI's is showing 384 bad sectors D:
okay... it just went up... i think its about to crap out on me and i dont have another drive to store the data.

              Re: Post your system.......

Bad sectors aren't that scary as long as the HDD reaches a point where they stop increasing. I have one drive with 1767 bad sectors and it's been stable like that for a very long time now. Actually, only a few of my HDDs don't have bad sectors. Most do, and most have stabilized and the bad sector count hasn't been increasing on them.

Just a little overpowered! I'm wishing someone would take this E3-1245 off my hands so I can go back to the still overpowered Celeron G530.

This 2nd box has some problems in which it either freezes with a 100% blue line(in a window) when I try installing Windows 98,either it reboots when I try installing XP SP3,by rebooting right after it shows "Setup is starting Windows".Even if memtest86 gave me no problems,I suspect it's bad RAM.Could be wrong though. The motherboard on this box has 2 SATA ports by the way.

Sounds like a power supply issue. Delux is a known cheap brand. I would encourage you open both of your units and post some pictures in a new thread in the Power Supply sub-forum.

On the 2nd box it wasn't the PSU at all.The 400w PSU survived through almost 15-20 if not more motherboards and it still runs like a char,,and the 450w works without a problem since 2008.Just the motherboard needed to be replaced but that's because of a bad BIOS image I had.
Apparently the EPoX motherboard installed recently on the 2nd box had 5-6 bad caps so I gave up with it.For 10 bucks,I think it wasn't worth it,so I'm getting a Socket 462 board as right now I temporarily installed a Intel D845GLAD board and it doesn't have AGP,which I need as I move my 2nd box to my TV,in order to play old games and emulators on a TV rather than LCD.(one example is Abe's Exoddus,it just looks better on a TV than on a PC)
For the PSUs,I opened them and they are in good shape.Just the 450w Delux PSU needed a new fan as the one it had was making a horrible noise. Now it works fine, even if it sounds almost like a plane taking off.(I used a Socket A fan so those are supposed to run loud)
I really need to change the D845GLAD motherboard, because not only it lacks AGP but the RAM is limited to DDR266,while both of my usual DDR SDRAM is clocked DDR400.Hope I find a board that uses a VIA KT400 or with any chipset that takes DDR400 RAM.
