Westinghouse DW39F1Y1 - No picture or audio
Hello people of BCN, long time no see.
Anyway, I got the aforementioned TV from my grandparents because they said it was dead.
I couldn't see any backlight or any picture (usually, a Westinghouse logo appears before going to the input, but no sign of it at any angle) and I have to take my grandparents word for it audio-wise, because I don't have any audio device to test it with, and finding the right source with no picture would be a guessing game.
When it's turned on, I do hear a faint humming from the area around the T-Con board. I imagine that's...

Re: What do you use for a word processor?
I use Office 2007 for stuff that will actually be printed out or read by someone other than me, and Notepad for things like personal notes or things of that nature.
I prefer Office 2003 over 2007, but I need 2007 for compatibility reasons,

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1
My dad brought home a fairly complete office phone system.
37 phones in total, and two things of...uh..whatever made the phone system work. All for free. They were going to be thrown out by the I.T guy, so my dad was wise to take them. According to eBay, the phones and equipment still have some value, so we might be able to make a couple bucks
(The TV's and computer case in the last picture were not part of the find.)...

Re: The 2014 Operating System Thread
I don't use Aero. I use the Windows Classic theme with no animations and no visual effects.

Re: Windows XP EOS plans
For myself, I'm going to keep on using it if needed. For the computers I sell, the older ones ('02 and older) will still get Windows XP and the newer ones (newer than '02) will get Vista.

Re: The Future of the Desktop PC
For me, the desktop will live on forever. For the average person, they'll probably be phased out in favor of laptops, tablets, and smart phones.

Re: Post your system.......
Some changes to my main PC. It now has an Intel DP43TF motherboard, and a GeForce 8400GS 512Mb over the 7300LE 128Mb. Other than that, nothing has changed. Same Q6600, still chugging with 2Gb of DDR2, same junky case, etc.

Re: Post your system.......
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, overclocked to 2.7GHz, cooled by a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus. 2Gb of DDR2-667 (though the speed is higher due to overclock), dual 500Gb hard drives, a crappy NVidia GeForce 7300LE, an AcBel 550W power supply modded with a 4-pin ATX12V connector (that's what the electrical tape is.) As for fannage, we have the Cooler Master heatsink fan, the rear fan that came with the case, a Worst Buy fan in front, and two Papst MultiFan 4212H's tapped off spare Molex connectors (one on top, one on the side panel.) The...

Re: Post your system.......
Now for some pictures.
My main setup. Consisting of a Dell IN2020M monitor, Packard Bell keyboard, Microsoft mouse, custom-built PC, Frisby microphone, Harman/Kardon speakers (the left speaker is hidden behind the monitor), taped on Netgear wireless adapter, HP LaserJet 1300, two old CB radios, a Verifone receipt printer, extra camera lens, and a jar of peanut butter.
The main computer is a Core 2 Quad Q6600, 2Gb of DDR2, two 500Gb hard drives, a Toshiba DVD burner, a generic card reader, a cheap Topower case, a 550W AcBel...

Re: Power supply build quality pictorial. part 2
Has FSP gone downhill lately?
This FSP VR400 isn't that impressive. Teapo primary caps, a mix of CrapXon, Teapo, and OST on the secondary. It's been powering my main PC for several months now, but I decided to replace it with an AcBel API4FS06.

Re: PSN ATX-300LL alias Bestec
You might also want to install the missing input filtering where the provisions can be found on the board. (I see a jumpered-over coil and no X caps.)
