• Hi TC. Been a while since I posted here. Lurking mostly.

So, by "creative" methods do you mean activating Windows 10 using a Windows 7 or 8 product keys? I've read that you can use an older Windows 10 installer like Build 1607 or Build 1703 which still gives the option to type a product key for activation then use a Windows 7 or 8.1. key to activate and once done just upgrade it to a latest Windows 10 build. At least this is what I've read in the interwebz....

  • Re: "Tiny" Win10/Win11 OS versions

Used TinyXP back in the day. But just went stock Windows 7 and then 10 for the last few years due to work. Might want to get back to these types of OS when messing around with old hardware mostly 2nd and 3rd gen Intel processors.

Ghost Spectre Superlite is interesting too. Based on the video by some dude named NotroDan that I saw.

    Thanks for this. ...

It has an Intel GPU. Not the problematic Nvidia one that I've read about in the web.

If it helps Service tag is 3TFMNH1 which the Dell web site gives me the following result: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/servicetag/0-bWJySDlNWjE2aWxQbTFhQzkwT2xqZz090/overview

  • Dell Latitude D630 won't power up

Hi everybody. Been a while since i posted here but in any case, what I've done so far with this D630 issue:

    1) Removed battery and held down power button for 30 seconds but still won't power up while using just the power cord.
    2) Removed battery and held down power button for 60 seconds but still won't power up while using just the power cord.

None of the LEDs light up when I plug in the power cord except for the battery LED which flashes green for less than a second whether I have a battery attached or not.

    Battery also never charges....

Using Windows 7 at home on two desktops.

Work though uses Windows 10 Professional (VLK). Curiously enough it updates less than consumer versions of Windows 10.

    EDIT:

Voted Windows 7 and it has the lead.

  • Re: Some "Vintage Iron" for you older PC guys

I wonder what happens if you install a more recent O.S. on this like Windows 7 and an SSD via a PCI SATA add-in card. Can you make it daily driver at that point?

Vintage Iron for me was a AMD K6-2 500MHz and due to financial constraints was stuck on that rig until I got a job and my first ever rig, a Sempron 2500+ and ECS N2U400-A setup.

Did you ever fix this issue?

Also, did you notice a greenish tint to the area with he horizontal lines?

I'm having a similar issue with my LG LED monitor but with the added greenish tint and it happens in only the right half of the monitor. :|

  • Re: Silverstone ST60F PCIE connector power issues

Just to put closure to this thread. The 7950 also died a few days later after further testing. The 7950 when placed in a friend's working rig with a more than capable power supply would have it's fans spin up and then turn off and thus not boot the rig at all. It was apparently the PSU that caused all this. It killed itself and then the 7950.

It took me a while to save up some money and have a running system again. I'm now using the rig you see below with a new Seasonic PSU. ...

Thanks for the info dump. Very informative.

I've been in the BPO sector for 8 years now. Not with I.T. mind you but just a humble agent for one of our clients and it has always bothered me that when I started with the company, we jumped from C2D-based Dells to S1156 i5-based Dells to S1155-based HPs and to the current S1150-based Dells. Next thing I know were going to be on Kabylake or Coffeelake CPUs. :P

The programs we use rarely change but our hardware gets upgraded in a short amount of time. ...

  • Re: Nutri Ninja Blender power conversion question

So you're saying it does not matter that the appliance needs 1000 watts?

As long as it's a step down transformer that gives you 110v the appliance will work just fine.

Sorry. Not really familiar with wattages and what not. ...

  • Nutri Ninja Blender power conversion question

    Hi guys,

My knowledge in terms of appliances is way behind my knowledge with computers.

Anyway long story short, my aunt in the U.S.A. gave my mom this appliance:

    https://www.amazon.com/Professional-Personal-24-Ounce-75-Recipe-Cookbook/dp/B00P2PFMV0

So naturally since I'm from the Philippines and we use 220V instead of the 110V this appliance requires, I'm a bit confused on how to go about this.

My first was to use a cheap ass automatic voltage regular (AVR) that I use on my spare computer since it has a 120V plug along...
