Re: My Asus P6T CMOS settings now always wiped out when unplugged!
On my Deluxe, no signs of shit solder joints. It looks safe to say that the bizarro problem is being caused by the XFX Radeon RX 580.
Because of not expecting that bizarro thing to be related to the video card, I just went ahead with getting another motherboard from a seller on eBay, which don't look scummy, thank the Lord. IIRC, they're from Hollister, California.
I've actually had better luck so far than with 3B Tech back in January, 2013, for the Asus Maximus II Gene motherboard, (socket 775) which the first time, received one that failed to boot and then I saw bad socket pins! At least, none of that type of bullplop, AFAIK. But 3B Tech saved my bacon! On February 11, 2013, I finally received a Maximus II Gene that's OK, hooray! (On February 11, 2013, wondering if 3B Tech just sent me back the same motherboard in the same condition, I went ahead anyway!) There was a long moment of silence and thus, it looked like the money of the time, was going down the toilet!

maybe find the diode and check there then . like trace out where it is missing .Leave a comment:

I just wanted to prove my toenails are not pained. Only thing I use toenail polish for is making sure bolts don't slowly come off in high vibration situations, and it's not even my polishLeave a comment:

Bad lighting
My brother in law has his toenails painted all different colors but his excuse is "I have a two year old daughter"

Re: My Asus P6T CMOS settings now always wiped out when unplugged!
This happened to a customer of mine with that exact same motherboard. I fixed it. Want to know the solution? I'll send you my paypal and give me $50!
Kidding.the p6t is poorly designed for the battery casing. It's vertical. It's easy to knock the positive pin out the motherboard. I heated it up, put some leaded solder on it and pushed it back down as I heated it up. Worked fine after thatLeave a comment:

Re: My Asus P6T CMOS settings now always wiped out when unplugged!
I have something real stupid too on my Asus Z97 WS. Sometimes the computer running linux will just "hang" after 30mins or an hour. Rebooting this will resolve in a constant boot loop withing the bios. So it resets every 3 seconds or so. The only way getting out of it is to clear the CMOS. Doing that a few times got old fast. So I took everything apart and off the main board, cleaned it, sprayed contact cleaner on each slot and put it back in. Works like a charm ever since.Leave a comment:

Re: My Asus P6T CMOS settings now always wiped out when unplugged!
there isnt one,
modern boards have the clock and ram integrated into the chipset.
the battery will go straight into one of the huge bga chips - sometimes via a diode.Leave a comment:

OK, maybe I got confused, because there's a jumper there, where it appears to be marked for another function, SMH!Leave a comment:

Re: My Asus P6T CMOS settings now always wiped out when unplugged!
The manual seems to indicate it should be marked but it's not. It's just above the front panel connector.
Pic changed, didn't notice you have the Deluxe.
I would have thought if a trace had been damaged then the issue would have show itself then ?Attached Filesif you find these attachements useful please consider making a small donation to the site

Re: My Asus P6T CMOS settings now always wiped out when unplugged!
would it be best to first check standby voltage at cmos chip ?
well after checking battery voltage that is .Last edited by petehall347; 07-07-2019, 05:54 PM.Leave a comment:

I very likely have a broken trace, because I changed video cards twice this year alone...Leave a comment:

Re: My Asus P6T CMOS settings now always wiped out when unplugged!
seen it on other boards,
it could be a bad diode or broken trace.
follow the trace, get the pinout to the chipset from intel's "ark" to make it easyer.Leave a comment:

Only when the battery is no good. Have you tested it's voltage ?
Jumper knocked off ?Leave a comment:

by i440bxHey there,
I got a HP Elitebook 820 G3 Engineering Sample Laptop and I want to use it. Besides the difficult things at the ES-BIOS I have a big problem by saving the main BIOS settings.
The laptop does not have a big battery because it was dead, but I already plugged in a new CMOS battery.
It takes about 5min without power and the BIOS settings are lost. Unfortunatly I dont understand why the BIOS settings are only saved with power connected and this is the reason why I registered here.
As written above, I plugged in a new CMOS cell and checked...3 Photos -
I've literally just received in the post a UNI-T UTi260B (it's currently on charge).
After quickly scanning the user manual I see there are all sorts of configurable settings (Measurement settings, Palette settings, Point temperature settings and Image Mode). As this is my first Thermal Imaging Camera I have no idea what all these settings are nor if I need to change/configure any of them.
I intend/hope to use this to help me diagnose issues with laptop motherboards so should I just leave the settings as the default or is there someone out there with a UNI-T thermal...09-02-2025, 08:36 AM -
by questoreHi Everyone,
I have brought you a mistery item
This laptop have come with some strange faults.
1. CMOS battery was flat 0v
Symptoms:
- After using the laptop and shutting down and removing the AC adapter for at least 1 minute, the laptop never turned on until EC reset (either shorting RTC or removing battery and long pressing power button)
Amp drawing was stuck at 0.005 milliamps.
- Laptop cannot really be turned off because it autostarts about 5 sec-1 or 2 minute. (lid sw is not the problem)
After inverstigation RTCD1 diode had a low value... -
by Genghis_KhanHello everyone,
I’m currently troubleshooting an issue on my Lenovo ThinkPad T470p (Type 20J6) and would really appreciate any insights or solutions.
Issue summary:
Whenever I remove the main laptop battery and AC adaptor, then place them back, the system gives a “CMOS checksum error” at next boot, and the BIOS clock resets to its default time/date.
However, the RTC works fine as long as the main battery remains attached — even if the laptop is unplugged for hours. Same as I remove the battery while the AC is attached, RTC remains. Obviously,... -

Hi all, I've spent the past week digging through the forums and guides to try correct my foolish mistake of changing hidden settings while tinkering around, and to be honest my heads overloaded so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.
I used a tool called 'Smokeless-UMAF' to access usually hidden settings in the bios. I tweaked one or two 'safe' things but made the mistake of tweaking a lot of settings under 'USB/Thunderbolt Configurations' when I didn't know what they did. For...-
