    Stupid Microsoft Error Messages

Tonight, I was loading Windows XP in a computer for the umpteenth time, and I came across this odd little error message:

Windows was unable to load this device

Please contact your hardware provider for assistance

    WTF???

Anyone else want to share their own odd error messages?

windows error box that shows up when installing ge fanuc cimplicity software on a mitek cyber saw.
red x error box that simply reads "error"
        and an ok button.
system works fine whatever this error is.

Workgroup is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permission. The list server for this workgroup is not currently available.
This stupid error message is mostly related to SMB Browser conflicts in Workgroups on Windows 2000/XP (I never tried Vista in a network, so I can't confirm or deny): two or more computers think they're the Browser Master and block the whole network for minutes unless they agree with each other. Add another computer and you'll face the same issue again and again. I can't get any clue from such a braindamaged error message, the only thing the admin shares are my doubts ("everyone has access permission, so what's not working?"): what's the purpose with a generic error, no error number at all unless you read the Event log? Screw you Microsoft

When setting up windows messenger, it tells me to close all open programs before continuing, and gives me a list of the programs. It always lists "windows messenger setup wizard"

                  Re: Stupid Microsoft Error Messages

I hate windows home networking capabilities. I mean... workgroups, network browsing and all that jazz... I think it's the most neglected part of the windows home operating systems.
It seems microsoft is still daydreaming SOHO clients will buy server operating systems massively. Get a grip...

And the error legends you have to face are nothing but helpful. There's a blog run by a italian guy (petri.net IIRC) that has several pages dealing with troubleshooting peer to peer windows networking. It's the best documentation I've found on how to READ the damned networking errors XP dishes out.

But coming back to the thread, the error I love the most doesn't belong to Microsoft.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guru_Meditation

@ jpdoe: I agree, Workgroups are a shame but I still have to set up properly a server with a domain. So I procrastinate this issue every time ...
BTW, the site is petri.co.il, from Israel.

                      @zandrax:
Yes, that's the site I was talking about.
I also haven't looked into windows domains yet. Always find something more interesting to do.

I have 50 surface pro 7's. This is for my company that I am in charge of fixing. So many units are not working, meaning the touch isn't with new screen. I get the error precise touch device error 10 in device manager. I flash bios, tried updated drivers but to no avail...Is this a bios issue?

                          Hello Sharp TV experts
Our Sharp LC-80LE642U displays one short one long flash error code which is a backlight error. I went into service mode and there were 8 lamp error counts recorded. I reset the count to 0 and did a reset. The last monitor error cause was 16 B00014639:12. 16 is the code for backlight error. I tried to power the tv up but went back into error mode.

                          by Maalobs
                          Hi,

I have a 2014 vintage Philips 60PFL8708S/12 that suddenly died in the middle of the kids watching a show.

The relevant service manual for the chassis is available here.
The TV no longer powers on, and leaving it powered on for a few minutes results in the layer-1 error with 2 blinks.
When I short the SDM to ground I get the layer-2 error code 53.

The inside of the TV has no damaged components and no swollen capacitors.
In SDM-mode when all the power rails are left on despite entering the protection mode, I tracked down and measured...
