Aha, so the TVS diode, a "Transient Voltage Suppressor", acts as a surge protector for the next IC on the line.
There was a descriptive picture on page 2 in this application report from TI:

The marking in the pictures is 6514P, which appears to be a Semtech part, here it is a DigiKey...

Re: Philips 58pus7505
I had the same thing here, but the TV was still under warranty so the entire panel and timing controller board was replaced.
The conclusion from the repair technician was that it's an error in the panel, so that doesn't bode well for you unless you still have warranty on your TV. Re: Philips 58pus7505

Re: Philips 55PFL8008S/12 two blink error code
If you don't want to risk it yourself, look for local repair shops for Playstations and things like that, bring the systemboard to one of those places and ask them to reflow the BGA chip for you.
Once that has been taken care of, there is yet another issue you might have to look into.
The Linux system on this board has not been properly configured to minimize write-cycles to the NAND storage.
That means that the NAND could be very dodgy by now.
You can find out how bad it is by recording...

Re: Philips 55PFL8008S/12 two blink error code
You might be following a red herring; the TV set is helpfully providing you an error code so why not investigate that clue instead.
The repeating two blinks means that you have a layer-1 error code 2.
If you take a look in table 5-2 in the service manual, you will see that they are all related to the system board ("SSB"):
This old model TV has a hardware SDM feature (see section 5.2.1 and figure 5-1), where you can force the TV to blink the more specific layer-2...Last edited by Maalobs; 01-23-2024, 05:24 PM.

Re: Philips 70PUS7505/12 - Contrasts in image are echoed vertically upwards
Yes, I meant the I2C EEPROM on the SSB.
As for size, this panel was a good fit for the oldtimers and their poor eye sight.Last edited by Maalobs; 01-23-2024, 05:28 PM.

Re: Philips 70PUS7505/12 - Contrasts in image are echoed vertically upwards
I've got an update on this TV.
Last night, while my mother was zapping channels, something happened with the picture and she's too old explain it, but suddenly she had this kind of picture:
The picture was compressed to 50% on the horizontal axis and doubled.
I was over there today to see what's going on.
I tried all the basics; power cycle, different sources, different resolutions, nothing helped.
The Error Buffer was empty too.
The problem solving...

Re: philips 42pfl8694h (8404h) startup problem
Layer-1 error code 2 on a PFL model.
It's high probability that you will need to reflow the BGA-chip beneath that undersized heatsink.
This model has hardware SDM, so you can check the layer-2 error code.
Go to section 5.2.1 in the service manual and find this bullet point:
Analog SDM can also be activated by, on the SSB,
shorting for a moment the solder pads SDM [1] (see Figure 5-1).
It's right above the Figure 5-1 image:
The SDM overrides...

Re: Philips 55PUS7909
Where did you catch the bootlog from, did you record serial output from SOC-TXD-SERVICE?
You seem to have some setting incorrect in your serial adapter, use 8N1 (8-bit, no parity, 1 stop bit) and try different speeds, start with 115200 and 57600.
Control characters have been inserted and some characters have been replaced, maybe entire lines are missing.
From the output that you do have, it looks like the system has successfully reached the transition away from the semi-standby state, and there it halts, so maybe it entered...

Re: Philips TV keeps restarting, is this MB the same as mine please?
I don't know about clever, but reading the serial output from the processor during the boot-up can give you a lot of information about what's going on, as shown here.
The SDM (Service Default Mode) when it was a hardware feature, and your TV is from that era, was a way to force the TV to keep all power rails on even when the TV enters protection mode.
This would allow you to measure each rail and to...

Re: Phillips 55PFL5602/F7 T-Con failure?
I found a service manual for 55PFL5601/F7 but not for 55PFL5602/F7, so I was just checking if it had been mistyped.

Re: Philips TV keeps restarting, is this MB the same as mine please?
The service manual that covers your model can be downloaded from this page.
The service manual is for a chassis that is shared among several models, so refer to Table 2-1 to find the diagrams and schematics that are specific to your particular model.
Other than that, focus on chapter 5.
There is no hardware SDM in this model, in section 5.2.2 it says:
There is also no table that explains...

Re: Phillips 55PFL5602/F7 T-Con failure?
You have written the model number as 55PFL5602/F7 in the thread subject line, but is this in fact a 55PFL5601/F7 model?
Maybe you can take a picture of the backside sticker? Re: Phillips 55PFL5602/F7 T-Con failure?
