I bought FOUR of these about 8 months ago for $117.00ea shipped. $164.00ea now, and going up every week?!? That's getting nutty, what the hell is going on here?!? With time, prices are supposed to drop, not rise..........

I know what you mean. There dosn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. They don't even give any lame excuses like ' supplier can't keep up with demand so we need to raise prices' any more. It's nutz.

      It's gas prices.
Anything petrolium based is costing more to make. This includes the plastic cover over the main chip

Everyone thinks just because petrolium prices are going up they crank up their prices. bad thing all round.

its really supply and demand related. but to the end user it depends how much stock the supplier maintains. more stock, changes in prices come later.

like for instance newegg still has it for 119.99+shipping

nice choice in ram though, i have had zero problems with transcend. unfortunately that supplier is starting to stock Supertalent more whatever the hell that is....

Where I buy local, 512m went from $43 to $53 last week. Our gas prices have droped $0.25 a gallon. Go figure!

Ya think DDR2 entering the pipeline might have something to do with this increase in price? Just my 2cents.

yeah and apparently there is insufficient supply of DDR along with increased demand for DDR from oems for back to school pcs.

its like the oil prices, going up and down on supply and demand and rumours and speculations.

Yes, same thing happened with EDO, SDRAM etc and now it's happening with the transition from DDR --> DDR2, expect the same when DDR3 comes out...

Factor in all the price fixing lawsuits etc that are going down and anything and everything is possible.

I added ram to my car this weekend.
Noo no that's wrong, I changed the oil in my car.
I like synthetic so I got a case of good stuff.
On sale each quart was 25cents less than it was ten years ago.
Not complaining but, how is this?

I agree with Galvanized and MD Willington. DDR 1 is not going to be the standard ram for much longer. Now that newer CPU's (AM2 and C2D) both use DDR 2, DDR 1 will go up since not many more manufacturers will keep making it. Same thing happened to EDO and sdram just like MD Willington stated.

Well, I figure it's supply and demand, all right. What I want to know is why companies stop producing things that are still in demand, which is what really causes prices to rise. Sure, they might make more money in the short run, but DDR will still be popular for some time to come.

There are more credable sources for this story if Samsung price-fixing is searched.

Anyway I had four 4GB DDR3-1333 modules in the 6 memory slots and got around 11GB/sec memory speeds assuming that it went dual channel since it didn't have enough modules for triple channel. Now I stuck in two more 4GB modules, but they are DDR3-1600. I'm still getting 11GB/sec speeds according to memtest86...

Just wondering, anyone do memory speed analysis on these triple (and higher) channel memory boards? Are there any...
