Re: 20 to 24-pin PSU Converters, anyone using them?
As long as there is enough wattage for the system and no clearence issues(like a coil or capacitor in the way) a 20 may be used on a 24 pin board or a 24 may be plugged into a 20 pin board without any adapter. The extra 4 pins will just hang off the end of the port.

Re: Enermax Liberty ELT620AWT
13 months after the RMA a second Liberty flash-bangs on Minerva.
She is not a n00b as I noted earlyer in this thread.

Re: *WARNING* Harbor Freight fuses...
I only use name brand fuses like Buss and only offered this as a heads-up.
I do have a rather large circle of ppl I come in contact with and they know me for being a grumpy old diesel mechanic. I will go as far as lift the hood or test drive a car and offer advice or recommend a repair garage or to buy or not. I do not do home repair of cars and such anymore.
With these non-fuses I await the day when someone tells me of a dash fire because it will happen.
In trucking the 1/4" round fuses could...

Re: OST Caps in Power Supplies
A comment.
The new Antec Earthwatts PSUs are built on the same Seasonic provided platform as the mid-range Cosair VX units.
The Earthwatts is populated with OST RLP and the VX Corsairs are populated with United ChemiCon (UCC).

Re: TV Antenna setup
I think V2A means UV resistant cable ties.
I bought several small rolls of self-fusing silicone tape from Radio Shack when it was on blow-out sale for $0.49 per roll, PN 64 2336. T'was OK but kind of sticky and not that easy for me to work with.
Bought three for the price of two rolls of black http://www.rescuetape.com/ at a old car swap-meet. Fantastic stuff!
Note the dielectric strength. It worked very well for splicing in new secondary ignition wires to coils with the old wires molded inplace.
If you...

Re: TV Antenna setup
Most white/clear zip-ties I've seen/used are not UV proof. Use black zip-ties or zip-ties that state they are UV proof.
In heavy construction the white/clear ones seem to last two seasons at most, while the black ones last forever.

Re: Dead Antec PP412X with Bad Caps
If it was still within the three year warranty w/o the cover seal broken it could be RMAed and the return unit would be an up-grade from a SP or TP.
Then keep that unit for a spare or sell it.

Re: Enermax Liberty ELT620AWT
Hi yanz,
The new Antec Earthwatts units are built on the same platform as the Corsair VX.
But..The Earthwatts' secondary is populated with OST (RLP?) and the VX has a population of UCC. I think Antec saves about $5 per unit.
Zippy/Emacs has the quiet and very efficient Serene units out in 400 & 500w.

Re: Enermax Liberty ELT620AWT
The Infinity reviewed very well but why these unknown caps http://www.0759.com/CECWEB/index.aspx?lang=en ? Well, they are unknown to me and I have seen no posts here about this brand.
Another thing that bothers me about Enermax...Where is the factory and/or corporate offices? I could never get an answer or find them on-line.
The Enermax-USA site used to have a FAQ section that spoke of the power-on zapping sound. They called it coil ignition. IIRC, it is the APFC coil saturating. I could not find it to link but...

Pro-Gold is not a cleaner. It will not remove oxidation.
I use Pro-Gold on all battery contacts..Stuff really works.

Re: Enermax Liberty ELT620AWT
The Seasonic provided Antec Earthwatts uses OST in the secondary and a Hitachi primary. Called building to a price-point. *sigh*
yanz,
Corsair has the VX units out now and Zippy/Emacs has released the new quiet Serene PSUs. All of these units are 80Plus certed.

Bottom of tier4 http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103
Member here and over at AnandTech, Rubycon(works/lives on a cruise ship) had a 620 Liberty shut down...just stop working, like the plug had been pulled. The ships circuit protection offered this. So she removed the unit, plug it into an unprotected circuit and it blew-up, sending out roman candle like sparks. She now runs a moderatly loaded Seasonic 700W in her gaming rig. She is a serious hobbiest, an uber geek lady.
