question about Polymodding
A question about Polymodding. I understand the rule of thumb has been 'half the uF value of the lytic...or thereabouts' when replacing a cap, but do you HAVE to reduce the uF of all the caps your replacing, or is it just certain circuits (VRM ect...). Prolly been asked and answered before, but I haven't found it. Any help would be nice.

Re: Just when you thought polymers gave a PC eternal life! - The GX745 SFF Calamity!
Hey Topcat, I noticed that you put in Polys of a lesser rating. I have several 745's and I'm pretty sure those were 2200uF originally. Obviously those work, but how'd you figure what size? I've got 4 systems to recap, 2 mini-towers and 2 SFF's. Will those 1800's do the job for me?

Re: Parts List Spreadsheet for PSU
I just did an Antec 430.
Here's the spreadsheet info saved as a tab delimited text file.
Should import into Excell no prob.

Re: Epox 8RDA+ completed.
@ trodas
I was hoping you didn't have some fancy studio setup. This means there's hope for me. I guess I need to get a good studio light.
Thanks for the feedback.

Kinda off topic but,
@ trodas
Your pics are great. What camera/setup do you use.
I've been having mixed results using a Canon PowerShot A75.

Re: Linksys BFRS41 Router died
My Linksys BFRS41 4-Port Router did the same thing to me last week. I pulled it and popped open the case and everything looked fine. No signs of overheating and caps looked OK. Caps are D-paston's (Hermei I think). Sorry, no pics.
Anyhow, reinstalled the setup going by the book. Powered up the modem first, then the router, then the computer. Letting everything stabilize between steps. It all works now, connects to isp and everything.
Could be a sign that it's on it's way out though. Do you think a recapp is in order?

Re: Can a motherboard virgin (me!) replace my bad caps?
"I've found the large ones at Farnell UK (Panasonic EEUFM0J472L).
But for the small ones Farnell only do 3900 6.3V, not 10V
Is it imperative that these exactly match the ones I'm replacing?"
Kappa, replacing 10v with 6.3v should be OK.

Re: Antec TruPower 430w
Ment to say Samxon GD's, not GC's.
Was a long day.

Re: Antec TruPower 430w
Time for an update.
New caps in hand, Samxon GC's (thanks to BigPope)
3300uf 10v Fuhjyyu > 3300uf 6.3v Samxon
2200uf 16v Fuhjyyu > 2200uf 16v Samxon
1000uf 10v Fuhjyyu > 1000uf 6.3v Samxon
470uf 16v Fuhjyyu > 470uf 16v Samxon
Recapped 1st PWS and reassembled it.
Powered up test bed computer, and it works!
Been a while since I did any circuit work.
12v = 12.0v
5v = 5.08v
3.3v = 3.34v
Happy as a clam....

Antec TruPower 430w
I'm recapping 2 of these bad boys.
Cap list is as follows:
8 3300uf 10v 10mm
4 2200uf 16v 10mm
4 1000uf 10v 8mm
2 470uf 16v 8mm
Problem is I can't find ANY
2200uf 16v 10mm caps. They need
to be 10mm as it's a tight fit.
Any suggestions out there?

Re: What's with memory prices?!? *rant*
I know what you mean. There dosn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. They don't even give any lame excuses like ' supplier can't keep up with demand so we need to raise prices' any more. It's nutz.

Re: A New DVD Burner
I've used HP & Sony burners with no problems.
Currently using Sony DRU510a.
TC
I've used them all except ME. XP is the most stable.
Currently using 2K & XPpro
