    Missing drivers - I'm lost.

I just installed Windows 7 32 bit on my HP TC4200 tablet. I only installed 7 because my university cut support for Windows XP on the tunnel guard software and authentication for Wi-Fi internet. Only Vista or 7 works with that shitty software now

Anyway, everything works fine except I'm missing 3 drivers. (see screenshot). I don't know what devices these are for.

    Here you go:

If that link doesn't work, try this:

The "PCI Simple Communications Controller" is a modem. Go to the details tab and post a screenshot.

"We have offered them (the Arabs) a sensible way for so many years. But no, they wanted to fight. Fine! We gave them technology, the latest, the kind even Vietnam didn't have. They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

MK, his tablet uses an agere chip... so he needs the standard agere softmodem driver.

what I do not know is whether they make a win7 driver for that...

IMHO, unless you use dialup at all, I wouldn't sweat it.

May I ask why is Aero disabled?
Windows 7 looks like shit without it :P
If you are unable to enable Aero maybe one of those devices is the graphics?

Re: Missing drivers - I'm lost.

I can't use aero because the 915 series graphics doesn't support it. I'm pretty pissed off that my university dropped support for Windows XP
Anyway, I tried installing those chipset drivers above but they didn't solve anything I'm going to figure out if there's a root folder where all the INF files are.

U may be able to find what the hardware is by using the Details tab of the device property's under property select Hardware Ids and it will have strings like this PCI/VEN_1002&DEV_6739
Google the string for your device and you should find what it is.
You also can right click on the device and select update driver withe it connected to the net if you are lucky windows has it in there online driver database.

Mass storage controller is probably a card reader.

Discontinuing support for XP? That's totaly rediculous!!! especially considering that the course I did only 1 year ago still had a lot of windows 98 and 2000 stuff. I won't downgrade to 7 or vistrash without a fight.

I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

Re: Missing drivers - I'm lost.

Windows 7 runs like shiznit with Aero turned on. Transparency makes captions hard to find. Popups from anywhere including the taskbar are bad, mmkay? Stacking, grouping, and intermingling running with non running taskbar icons were all bad ideas long before Vista.

Get the 4 digit hex codes for vendor and device. Search first at:
