who the hell makes these things? a condom, a sock it is just stupid. that is why i build my own comps a friend brought his comp over to me saying 'i smell something burning about 5 minutes after i turn it on' i open it up: a tissue on top of the GFX Heatsink Burnt Black! so when he saw it he was like 'Last time i go to THAT computer shop.'
Hey man, come to think of it, I might have that part. Mine's from a P3, around a 550 MHz I believe. HP NetServer...Should I get some pictures?
And have you ever cleaned a P-233 AT that lived in a middle/high school wood shop? I tell you, that was awful.
or a 12 yr old comp that is on 24-7-365? when i opened it everything was black and i thought uh-huh as it was plugged in and never turned off as far as i know. i also thought ok do i sense bad caps? everything was fine. even my capacitance meter says so. and i think those caps were TNC on the motherboard and JQE MASTER in the power supply unit but i am unsure as it was last year.
People threat their computer just like they threat their vcr, dvd player, hi-fi, tv, or games console. Nothing sucks air greatly all years like a pc. People should threat their comp like their beloved car that need frequent threatment.
days are so short when you actually do something..

It's treatyanz... 'threat' is something you receive from your wife for spending too much time with computers
Sadly as you've pointed out yanz, people don't treat computers with the level of respect they deserve, and thus PC rage (amongst other things) is on the rise, it really erks me when people blame computers for their own short comings
As for finding foreign objects in technology devices... how about biscuits & toast is a VCR! so far I've only found dust bunnies inside my PC's, but a small (unnamed) individual placed a steel rod (off a toy) into a CRT monitor case BOOM! was the result
haha, yeah.. sometimes it's confusing me to choose a proper word in english thanks for the correction! you know the different between quit, quite, and quiet? damn...
gekko (or gecko?) is the most things i happen to find inside a psu. those animals are fried, with their eggs. when it still new/fresh burnt, they smell like shitty...
talk about dust, try to open your keyboard... and bad keyboards sometimes need to be whacked, or throwed out ..
mmm.i work for a construction firm and every now and then i have to some work on a pc.Well,i guess you can imagine what dust mixed with steel dust can do with a computer. The realy strange thing is the have over-pressure in the offices to prevent this happening.I told the boss the pc's realy need to be cleaned out on a regular basis, but this never happenes. oh well his money.
Yup - the AcBel PSU is not as good as the earlier (?) Delta OEM units that HP was using. It should be fine after a recap, though. Give a shot of TV tuner cleaner or switch cleaner to all the power connectors, as well.
I'm not sure about this particular system, but if it's a i440BX chipset, it may be capable of supporting Cumines in slotkets with a VRM upgrade to 8.4 and a BIOS upgrade (for Cumine microcodes). I was able to do that to a HP Kayak XU that originally had a Deschutes PII/350. Another option (even more iffy) is a Tualatin-conversion Slotket.
God isn't this the truth. I am going to post some pictures of one in a few days. It shocked the hell out of me. It has better quality components than most aftermarket PSUs. It was just a Delta that was OEM on our old 1 Ghz Athlon. The one I have has NO cheap capacitors. It is all Rubies, Chemmies and Nichies.
