    disk cloning freeware

    Hello everyone

Because of reasons apart from me i cant use shareware at this moment and even thou i could work around on this , i thought i'd look for a reliable alternative. After reading many reviews i cant come to a certain conclussion and i cant try em all out, so i thought coming here and ask to the BCN experts their opinions on this.

i have been looking for alternatives to both norton ghost and acronis true image. they both seem to be pretty good and easy to use, imo.

The scenerio is pretty basic: i have the need to clone a whole drive, i have used the mentioned options and like their method (live booting, then option 'create'(or 'back up') to get the image and 'restore' to place it) for the task.* This time is going to be Clone*800+ computers.

The following links are some of the ones i have been found/read.

    http://www.techsupportalert.com/best...election_Guide
    http://www.winvistaclub.com/d75.html
    http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/5-ways-...ur-hard-drive/
    http://www.thefreecountry.com/utilit...andimage.shtml
    http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/67...is-true-image/

so far my choice goes to macrium reflect cause from what ive read it seems to work in the same way and is win7 compatible. (and of course is free)

on second place i have placed paragon back up & restore free, but on its reviews on many sites ive read of issues regarding the bootable disc and such.

then i have considered clonezilla, but it just does not seem to be easy of use.

i have also checked discwizard from seagate but from what ive read it only works for seagate-maxtor disks (no good to me then) ive also read a work around on this but then im not sure it will work.

    * The reason why Im looking for an easy way of cloning is because i may have to get others to clone, and those others may not really be IT specialist or not even related, so im thinking on handing em the bootable disk, the disk(s) with the image(s) and some quick instructions...

Any advise, idea or review is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    peace

I use Acronis True Image off a bootable CD. Has worked well and will allow image to a network drive.

Makes a bootable CD for you and just pick the file.

      +1 for acronis.

You can try some of the programs off the hiren's boot cd. They are "freeware".

I use Macrium Reflect, but have heard good things about Acronis.

I also use Imagex which is quite free and very Windows compatible.

          +1 for acronis.

otherwise, boot linux from network ROM and tftp. use DD, it is an exact copy.

It pops a warning now on non-free software. Either way it does the job. I bet the "victims" are getting huge sales from the free advertising hiren's did for them.

If you want windows and stand alone acronis you have to go to them and hopefully buy it. Diagnostics is one thing but you can't install pirated software on company computers. Same goes for the other utilities.

                      PS5 Disk Tray issues.
                      by welp
I have a PlayStation 5 CH-1215A with a Disk drive not reading disks anymore. (accepting and ejecting very slowly.)
Knowing the PS5 has a married daughter board for the disk drive I made sure to use that and replace the rest of the disk tray as it* was owned previously by an indoor smoker.
Once the job was complete and put back everything together, I tried to insert a disk with no luck at all...
So, I checked voltage going from the ps5 to the daughter board and am only getting the 5V rail.
With that knowledge I preceded to check all the fuses for the 12v rail on the main...

ASUS ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING - M.2_2 port not working correctly with SAMSUNG SSD980 1TB NVME SSD
                      by DynaxSC
                      Hi,

I have an really very weired issue with ASUS ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING.

Some NVME (PCIe) SSD's are not working correctly in the second M.2 socket. An example of it is the SAMSUNG SSD980 1TB NVME SSD.
Some other NVME (I have only smaller ones) disk do work without any problem, also SAMSUNG disks, eg an MZVPV128HDGM-0000.

The behaviour is also really very strange, i.e.:
                      • The disk shows always up in BIOS - so it is recognized, so far so good
                      • POST-ing with this disk with fresh Windows 24H2 installation (done in the M.2_1 socket) in the M.2_2 socket
                      ...

LG GCC-4521B cannot read any disk
                      by chth96
I bought 6 second hands odd $5 at a flea market and I found that 2 odd(GCC-4521B,TS-H192) won't read any disk.
But I measured all ESR value of SMD capacitor which is located on the TS-H192's PCB and replaced two capacitor which has higher ESR value.
And To My joy, this TS-H192 odd finally recognized burned CD as well as pressed CD.😂
But there was no more good fortune for GCC-4521B..In order to dead GCC-4521B back to life, I replaced three capacitor which has higher ESR value and I rubbed silicon grease on the every glides.I even brushed lens with cotton swab which was soaked...

It came in because it was in a Windows 11 auto repair/BSoD loop. There were no dump files present on the drive which was odd. I attempted to boot into a Windows bootable USB and after selecting the USB, I would get a Windows logo and progress circle, then the system would halt and I get a BSoD. Each time the stop code is different. I have tried bootable...

                      Apple Macbook A1707 Hard disk
                      by Eleways
                      Hi

I've an Apple macbook A1707 with Hdd defect.

This product don't work with a normal Hard disk, but the hard disk it's a BGA component on the logic board.

                      My question is:
Can i exchange the hard disk, by desolder the bga Hard disk and replacing this?

Can i replace with a different one (es 500 gb instead of 250 gb)

This Macbook has T1 security check.

                      Thanks and best regards

                      Luca
