But what else did they damage when they went bad? usually components in the gate circuit get damaged as well, Also have a look at CL802 (blue cap) does it look bulged at all?

Pulled all caps and tested with ESR meter and were almost spot on. No bulging either. I had to also replace RL820 was open and also replaced the zener diode ZDL802 was also open.

If ZD802 went open, I suspect RL822 could be open as well, and if both mosfets were shorted, I would change ZDL801 as well.
If any components in the gate drive are not correct, the circuit will not switch properly and draw too much current.

RL822 checks ok and I did replace ZDL801 at the same time as other one. Thank you R_J for your time as it's much appreciated. I need to quit for the day but if you think of something please let me know and I will check it in the morning and report back ASAP.

R_J I was thinking that when I checked voltage at the big cap it was also fluctuating so would still be a problem on the hot side of the board. Would the rectifier have anything to do with it???

explain Fluctuating, Fluctuating from 385v to ???
What rectifier? there are lots of them on the board, and they all have board identifiers

If QL801 & QL802 are not switching properly, they will likely cause the main pfc boosted voltage to drop. but it should not drop all the way down from 385 to 160v

Well it happened so fast and was never a steady voltage on the big cap. I think I seen 380v then down to 100 something but was very fast. I was asking about BD801S I think it is. Would you think I just try replacing QL801 and QL802 again? In case I got some bad new ones??

                  Re: Samsung UN55EH6000F Power issue

The main supply should not drop below 165vdc, I can see the pfc circuit shutting down and the voltage dropping from 385v to 165v
The mosfets may have been damaged if they were replaced before the gate resistor and zener were replaced.
BD801s is the main bridge rectifier, I doubt it is bad, none of the 4 diodes are shorted or it would blow the main fuse and it is unusual for one of the diodes to o open.

The whole board seems to be working except for the backlight supply circuit, and when the backlight circuit is working it should supply 331V at 289ma which is not that much of a draw on the main supply, and with no led's connected (unloaded)it should not be drawing much current at all.

Replaced them both again and still no joy. Here is a pic of old one on left and new on right.

                      Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Hello Everyone, this is my first post and I am excited to be a part of such a great community. I've been reading these forums for awhile and there really is some good friendly people here. No bashing and being rude like 90% of other forums Ive been to. Lets get to the good stuff.

I have two years of college in Electronics Engineering Technology. Ive been tinkering with electronics sine about 1990. I know enough just to be dangerous, so be gentle.

                      Hi all,

My Samsung TV display recently stopped working while I was playing PS4 (no storm or anything to indicate a power surge). I could still hear audio through the PS4 but no display. The TV kept trying to turn on but would turn off after a second or two.

I tried the obvious troubleshooting steps like unplugging, replugging, trying different outlets and power cords with no luck. Someone on another forum suggested that it may be a power supply issue so I purchased a replacement power supply board but that did not help. I then disconnected the main board from the...

Samsung Plasma TV Power Supply Issue
                      by lp20th
I have a vintage 2008 Samsung 50” Plasma TV, Model code PN50A550S1FXZA with a power supply part number BN44-00222A. I repaired the power supply board several years ago finding a couple of cold solder joints on the back side of the board and it's worked great up until now. Recently a fried sound occurred with the smell of burnt electronics and the TV shut down. Trying to turn it back on yielded the typical relay clicking with no TV boot up. Upon investigation, removing feeds to the other boards within the TV it was found that disconnecting the logic board from the power supply allowed the...

Acer Spin 1 SP111-33 Power-On Issue (Troubleshooting Assistance)
                      by justice171
I am seeking guidance on an Acer Spin 1 SP111-33 that does not turn on when pressing the power button.

Below are the observations and troubleshooting steps I have taken so far: Observations and Tests:
                      1. Verified that all critical voltages are present:
                        • 3.3V and 5V are always present if DC is plugged.
                        • 1.8V on the BIOS chip is present.
                      2. Checked the power button functionality:
                        • When pressed, the voltage drops to 0V, indicating the button is functional.
                      3. Inspected the flex cable connecting the USB, audio, and power button to JUB1:
                        • Confirmed connectivity is intact, ruling out issues
                      ...
