LG 55UH615A Half Screen Dark, Replaced LED's & Power Board, Completely Stumped

I have this LG 55UH615A with half screen is Dark. This is an edge lit TV with 2 small LED strips that run along the bottom of the TV. When I got it, only one half of it was lit. Also, there was a buzzing noise coming from the power board. I ordered new LED strips and also a replacement power board. Installed both and I'm still getting the same problem. When I test the wires going to both LED strips, Im getting solid, non fluctuating voltages from the power board and also at the connectors plugged into the LED strips. I tried to rule out if possibly the new LED strip on the dark side was bad. I took the old strip that was still good and plugged it into the side that lights up, and it lit up the strip, but when I plugged it into the other side... nothing.

Any one with suggestions or ideas of what else I can try, I would really appreciate the help. I'm completely stumped on this.

This is a fact of connectors, this is for exclusion, obviosly there aren't any other things. How does it come to your mind to get led trip together with powerboard? The first culprit cndidate was the strip...

Re: LG 55UH615A Half Screen Dark, Replaced LED's & Power Board, Completely Stumped

The power board was buzzing before I replace it, so I thought the old LED's were causing the buzzing on the board. So I replace the LED's first, but board was still buzzing after and the LED's were dimly lit. Still only on 1 side though. So then I thought to replace the power board. Once the new board arrived, there was no more buzzing and the LED strip was at full brightness, but still only just one side. When I test the side that doesn't light up, I get steady 261.6v out of the red wire and a steady 201.1v from the black wire, but the LED strip still doesn't turn on.

Show us good clear pictures of the whole backside of the TV showing all the boards, then good clear straight shots of the whole power supply board so we can see what we are dealing with.

i don't understand, you have only two cables output but referring to the ground you have 260v on red and 200v on black? i think between red black must be higher until 260 when full brightness.. anyway check those cabling..

I have attached photos of my multimeter readings of all the wires coming out from the power board and also going into the LED Strips. I also have a photo where I plugged in the old strip on the side that works showing that it lights up, but when I plug the same strip into the bad side, it doesn't light up. I just don't know what else could be the fault causing this problem. If anyone knows, please advise.

from the photo of the strip socket i can tell yours replacement strips are for right side not the left... you need to flip wires of - + to let it work... but then how you will fit it ?

Hi! Ok now is very clear, forget my diagnisis of cabling, by your photo you have 2 led driver output channels, one working at 75v , and one not working at 60v. Time to search for a schematic of power board. If you can't find it at least post two extraclear pictures of top and bottom.

sorry to bump an old thread, I have the exact same problem, did someone fixed this?
The left side is darker than the right side, new led strips installed but the problem is the same, the supply outputs 154v on left and 162v on right, I have reversed left with right wires and the problem moved to right side so clearly the power board has something to do with it.

Maybe try testing or replacing c205 and c206.

thanks I will check c205 and c206, they are in parallel on both LED+ however c801 and c802 are on the LED- left and right that I suspected bad, I have replaced them but problem is still there.

From what I've noticed if it is a cap causing it, it's usually one of those right by the connector there.

Probably not your issue but I have replaced caps in the past and didn't check them after. one time I chased everything then thought maybe I better check if they were ok. Maybe check them in ohm mode, should be similar to each other on ohm reading, probably in m or k region.

thank you all, I figured it out finally, the IC801 aka MAP3516 was the bad guy, I checked all components near it and everything was fine, the fact that the dimmer side responded laggy when adjusting the brightness from settings made me suspicious about this ic so I have changed it and now it works flawless.

                                    Hi there !

I'm having an issue for several weeks with my quite old K70 LUX RGB keyboard. I haven't used it for few months, and once I setup up again my desktop computer, I got several dead LEDs on that keyboard. I tried the Corsair troubleshooting thing (disabling options in iCUE, ...) but nothing changed so I conclude that for some reason some LEDs went in retirement...😅
Decision taken to change these LEDs as I have access to desoldering iron and binocular magnifier, I wrote a ticket to tech support, hopping to obtain the LEDs reference and... They refused to tell me 🙄...

                                    Hello all ~

Hope this finds you well. This LG 82UN8570AUD (April 2021 model) 4K UHD television has full audio capabilities but video is compromised / problematic.

When I picked up this large LG tv it had a full black screen upon startup. Previous owner said it just went black one day. No popping sound or anything else of note.

I got the display to work by taping off several traces of the right-hand side ribbon cable on the TCON that leads from TCON to PANEL. However, despite dozens and dozens of attempts to find the right combination / range of traces taped...

good night! I have this screen that looks half black and half white. the tcon gives a low vgh value (5-6v). the rest seem fine. I think the problem is in that area, but there are not many elements on the integrated controller board. there are no shorted capacitors. could they be a cof? Some help?

I found another post on this site the other day which has been very helpful in troubleshooting this issue I am having with my tv. The left half of the screen is dark, and the other half is VERY slow to generate it's image - and it only generates part of its image at that.
Based on this yt video, I have narrowed it down to an issue (short?) on the left side of the display, somewhere in the system of ribbon cables.
when I remove the bezel and the rear cover, I can get the image to display correctly by manipulating the ribbon cables on the left side which connects the left lower display...
