Looks like your new mainboard is not compatible, can you post a good picture here of the white sticker/s on it or type out the number letter strings? Sometimes you can change the panel settings in service menu which this doesn't seem to have a typical service menu like in tvs with a tuner but I think you have a mismatch mainboard there, thinking that even if you got to panel settings in a service menu that it would not work. I could be wrong, my best guess tho.

        You are sure it's a E60 and not a E65?

What is the complete model number and service code on the back cover?

It is actually a e65u. Sorry for the confusion there. Here is the main board i purchased.

There is no service code on the back. Just model and serial number. I tried to post the pics but they were too large and I had to zip them. Can you see the zip file?

            Thanks.

Ok, that board looks like the right one, I don't know what it could be then, unless they sent you a bad one. My bad on calling it the wrong board, I thought I read that the new board was from a e70, must have got my threads mixed up.

you weren't dreaming. The post at the bottom of the first page, the op indicated that the "new card" shows a 70in set. This is indeed the problem. The question is... can this actual card (serial number / model) be used in multiple set sizes or is indeed, the card for the wrong set. A quick look thru shopjimmy shows some "differences" across cards in the "family" (similar serial numbers) with some additional "checks" for the set type serial number... there are some different possibilities.

Are you talking about post #17?

The "new" card is the same part number, rev # and date as the original board. I am beginning to think the board is bad.

you need to look closer at the board they sent you. There is a small label near the heat sink. The picture in the listing doesn't give a clear picture... instead they posted a good picture of the "generic" label for the card. The sticker needs to be 138C.

It's very strange that it reports as 70, there's the match from shop jimmy, is yours exactly like it, do the numbers on white sticker match? Is it possible they sent you a 70 by mistake?: https://www.shopjimmy.com/vizio-y838...has-serial.htm

all the cards in the "series" look the "same"... the only difference is the 136c,138, and 140c which are 70 65 60 according to shopjimmy. The key is the small label.

See attached. Better pics of the tags on each board. The original board has 138A on the tag. The board i purchased was advertised to be for a 65... But it has 136B on the label and seems to be for a 70. Hopefully the ebay seller will do the right thing and take a return since this is not the correct board.

Thanks guys for all the help.

Ahh bingo, yep definitely a seller screw up, that has to be the only way you would get that 70 from post 17. Ok then re-regard post 42 and 47.

Just letting everyone know the issue was the incorrect board. I searched again and found the correct board... installed it and it worked perfectly. Either the seller either shipped me the wrong board, or just had it listed wrong.

Many thanks to NoMoreSonys and budwich for all the help. Would never figured this out without their help.

glad you got it straighten around. The cards look the same but vizio must have some way of writing the model number. In some "older sets" with multiple panel types / sizes, one could get into the service menu and change the panel number to get a card to function. Sony has some form of tcon to main exchange which updates / co-ordinates capabilities across panels. Anyway, enjoy your screen.
