  • You can see impression of components in this two sided tape. Not sure if that would cause a heat issue for them.
someone said follow the power in on main board to see if it gets to main chip. Not sure how to go about that. Also seen someone comment that vizio has problems with voltage converters or regulators. Assuming the 16 to 5 volts needed for ps-on. Willing to learn have tools and access to more. Looking for some direction from more experienced persons. Thank you, great site and, people!...

  • Re: samsung, ln55b650t1f, gamma ic? burnt!

update. bought a china rework station, pen flux, and solder paste. got five chips in from hong kong. practiced removing a few chips, clean up, and soldering them. soldering in wash a bit scetchy, but felt i was ready to just take out the samsung chip. turns out the ones that i got off easily were in fact easy ones. the samsung chip had a gob of solder under neath it. not knowing this. i over heated the pads before i got it to come off. pulling five pads. they say an education is expensive, so i still feel having the tool and flux and solder...

the connector in pic 2 is not fully seated. . .two of the caps on pic three look alittle puffy as with few in six. cant see the ones on the ps well. you should esr test or replace all of them.

  • hakko fx-888d vs used fx-951

time to buy a solder station have been looking for used they dont show up on cl or pawn shops around here. i did find a well used 951 on ebay for 150. looks like it was used by employees of some sort, so it probably has alot of hours on it but the tip selection is much wider into some chips. a new 888d from hakko usa is 108 and new but less features. im using tvs as a fun way to learn electronics which will help tons with working with new cars and some day electric cars.i dont really know what to look for, and i respect the opinions around here. also how do i tell a fake from a real unit? thank...
