Looks like you need to use an app on a phone or tablet etc. to work the menu:

Some features are good, but it is not a TV

This model has a clear picture and has nice features. However, it is not a television. It does not have a tuner and there is no coaxial connection. It is basically a large computer monitor. It will only work with items that can be connected by USB, HDMI, or RCA. It also comes with a remote that will not even access the menu or settings. You MUST connect it to a smart phone or tablet to even operate the menu. Also the unit will dim the display periodically, despite the fact that the auto dim feature is set to "off".

I tried it with the smartphone app to control it. could not get to the service menu with that. I wasnt so sure that it would work right if I was pressing two buttons at the same time on the phone.

I have a Direct TV remote that I can program. Will try it tonight and see if I can get it to control the it.

BudWich : I have the XRT-132 remote. See message #19 for a visual.

          Thanks

:-( hopefully you can get a universal to work. From a quick search, the "standard" remote for the set is about $10... might be worthwhile since you got this far.

I have the original remote that came with it. It just does not have a menu button.

I also borrowed my neighbors vizio remote. It has a menu button and seems to work with my tv. It turns the set on/off and the menu brings up the system menu. Tried procedures to get to the service menu and none of them work.

See if the other functions of the system menu work and volume channel up down and mute etc. to verify it working, I've tried some same brand remotes but different models that only had limited function on the other tv.

As far as I can tell everything on the borrowed remote works.

maybe if your neighbor is "nice"... :-) you can try some of the sequences on his set to see if you can get any to work... it could be a "finger problem".... but be careful not to do anything there after.

His set is not the same E-series, but i can try.

Have either of you actually got to the service menu on this e-series set?

Nope, haven't had the "pleasure" of messing with one of these, starting to wonder if there is a service menu.

It's a little different than a regular tv, I think you have everything you need with your remote, here's the whole spew: https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...26246f0ca0.pdf

What's the first 8 letters of the serial number of the tv on the back cover?

No problem. It will be this afternoon before I can get the pics and number.

                                    Thanks

nope... never had the pleasure, just seen what has been posted here for vizio and sharps for that matter. BUT the purpose of the effort, is to see if YOU can get into a service menu at all. There have been a number of posts that user have difficulty getting into the SM on various sets. It is rather suspect and indeed, the likely suspect is usually "fingers". Hence, the "test".

I really appreciate the help and it might be a timing thing with the key-presses. Only reason I asked was to make sure there was indeed a service menu available.

The set serial number is LFTIUHAS......

Attached below are the pics of both the original and the replacement main boards. If these are not clear enough, let me know and I will try again.
