Re: Samsung UN60J6200AFXZA....no backlights but a picture
If your board is as attached then it says the led voltage is 201V. If you are reading higher than this then it would be indicative of faulty led(s) or an open circuit in the led string connectors or connections.
What voltage do you have on Pin 2 of CNM803 (PWM_DIM)

Re: Samsung UN60J6200AFXZA....no backlights but a picture
I don't remember exactly but it was 13v or 5v I think. I did the flash light test and could see the menu no problem. I thought it was the LEDs but the hot spot on the board had me concerned the power supply could be bad also. I was just wondering if there was any way to test the LEDs to make sure they are bad before I order new ones. Thanks.Comment

Re: Samsung UN60J6200AFXZA....no backlights but a picture
Those tow hot spots are part of the LED driver circuit, so may be it got hot due to some of the LEDs shorted out first and then finally went open circuit, so something like this you need to check the LEDs to make sure they are OK or not.Never stop learning

See those 4 LED test points TP1 ~ TP4 in the LED drivers section? You will very skinny probe tips to get to the test points.
TV is OFF, then you will leave the black probe on the chassis, red probe on TP1 then turn on the TV while watching the DC Voltmeter to see how high it goes up too, this will happen fast so you must keep your eyes on the meter, record that reading then, turn the TV off and repeat the same procedure on TP 2, 3, and 4.
Or you can spend about $30 ~ 40 for the LED tester which will give you Forward Voltage (Vf) reading of each LED string to see if they are all the same or not, I would get the LED tester to make it much easier to locate the problem, it is not 100% but better than nothing.Never stop learning

Re: Samsung UN60J6200AFXZA....no backlights but a picture
I've tested all of those they are 320V, I think they are supposed to be around 200V. I tested the LED strips for an open and I found one that does not test the same as the others. It is open when they others have a reading. So I'm almost sure I have an open on one of the strings. But why are all the strings black and not half when it has 2 different supply that feed them? Thanks.Comment

Still O Volt reading (between Black and Grey wires on LED connector) when LED cable is disconnected
Any ideas?

Re: Samsung UN60J6200AFXZA....no backlights but a picture
Do you have an LED tester? If not, they are only about $30-$0 from Amazon. It will let you know if you have bad LEDs. With that voltage you mentioned (it's the unloaded voltage from the PSU) it probably is an open LED strip.Comment

by TR103Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
- sound and backlight, but no picture
- when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
- it keeps rebooting
- without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
- when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.
- without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered... -
by stingerWhen I turn tv on, the backlights come on but there is no sound or picture. I have read that these tv's have problems with the panels going bad but the "no sound" has me questioning if the main board is bad. Is there a way to troubleshoot the main board to determine if that is the problem?

by JJAAMMThis was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.
Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode... - Loading...
